The narrative style and performance bring the characters to life through the lens of imperfect integrity, the essentially human flaws that makes the various achievements that much more compelling. Meacham’s relaxed, authoritative approach feels less like a history lesson than a reminder of the genius often displayed by good people in difficult situations. An excellent book.
