Story
Amanda King and Tess Cuffe are strangers who share the same Georgian house, but their lives couldn't be more different. Amanda seems to have it all, absolute perfection. She projects all the accoutrements of a lady who lunches. Sadly, the reality is a soulless home, an unfaithful husband and a very lonely heart. By comparison, in the basement flat, unwanted tenant Tess has spent a lifetime hiding and shutting her heart to love. It takes a bossy doctor, a handsome gardener, a pushy teenager and an abandoned cat to show these two women that sometimes letting go is the first step to moving forward and new friendships can come from the most unlikely situations.

Publisher's Summary
A bittersweet inheritance reunites three estranged sisters in a novel of family, trust, and forgiveness from New York Times bestselling author Carolyn Brown.
When they were growing up, Dana, Harper, and Tawny thought of themselves as “sometimes sisters.” They connected only during the summer month they’d all spend at their grandmother’s rustic lakeside resort in north Texas. But secrets started building, and ten years have passed since they’ve all been together—in fact, they’ve rarely spoken, and it broke their grandmother’s heart.
Now she’s gone, leaving Annie’s Place to her granddaughters—twelve cabins, a small house, a café, a convenience store, and a lot of family memories. It’s where Dana, Harper, and Tawny once shared so many good times. They’ve returned, sharing only hidden regrets, a guarded mistrust, and haunting guilt. But now, in this healing summer place, the secrets that once drove them apart could bring them back together—especially when they discover that their grandmother may have been hiding something, too…
To overcome the past and find future happiness, these “sometimes sisters” have one more chance to realize they are always family.

Your Best
Although a slow start a wonderful story. A great blend of generational and cultural concerns. The inclusion of resolution of family problems that can plague siblings brings sadness and laughter. This book leaves me with great hope for a time when nothing but Love matters. I look forward to reading the book again.

A family story shared and wonderfully written!
This was a book that really touched my heart. I had no problem enjoying it from beginning to end. Our lives need a break from the stress of our own realities so getting lost in this book was amazing. The sisters are all different and are brought back to granny Annie's place to somehow come together & make amends with each other. what unfolds during that time is played out in such a way that you laugh, cry, wonder and think how all of their differences really draw them together. Glad I stumbled upon this gem. I was thrilled to have both the kindle & audio to go between!! If all books came this way I'd got lots more books in!

Got better closer to the end...
I almost gave up on this book. The narrator was not the best, especially for the male characters but I stuck with it through the end. My favorite Carolyn Brown book is "Ladies Room" and was hoping for something similar for this book.

Couldn't make it through
It's rare that I dislike a book enough to stop before it's finished, but I couldn't make it through this one. It was like every cliché of the rural South I'd ever heard of. Women in bar fights, grown sisters who bicker and refuse to get along. Not the book for me.

Cheesy, Predictable ... I just can’t finish it.
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
possibly a young teenage girl as it’s an immature storyline which I expect will become a classic love story with a classic syrupy heartwarming ending.
Has The Sometimes Sisters turned you off from other books in this genre?
I really tried to like it as it started out as a good premise but it was so cheesy, predictable and downright cringeworthy that I just had to stop. Characters had absolutely NO depth. Three sisters ... all “emotionally scarred” in some way or another who don’t get along. The whole premise that they all come together at a moment’s notice when a loved one dies (really?!? so an unexpected loss in the family and every character can drop their life wherever they were previously iving in order to move to some camp and all start working there?!?)
Still had 6hours left in the book and just had to stop ... but let me guess ... I pr didn’t that although All 3 sisters end up starting out as different and distant ... they will all find common ground, fall in love with either an old boyfriends from the past, a handsome cusomer or the strong silent type of guy from the this small town. They’ll all see past their differences and live happily ever after. Yeesh. Just can’t force myself to listen to it any longer but I have a feeling that my above prediction would be what it will all wrap up to be. No thanks ... moving on .....
What three words best describe Brittany Pressley’s voice?
Simple, Annoying, Boring
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Sometimes Sisters?
Didn’t like the middle sister at all. Can’t remember her name but the classic “tough exterior” and “misunderstood” character. Give them all some depth ... and make it a storyline that isn’t exactly like 100 other books.

So good !!!!!
I wasn't sure at first if I would like this book. But, I love a good story that is, yes fiction, but, so much about real life. I felt that I was living their life with them. It became very personal for me. I felt their pain and triumphs. Thank you so much for this book. It was much more than was expected.
