The first snow will come

A young boy wakes to find his mother missing. Their house is empty but outside in the garden he sees his mother's favourite scarf – wrapped around the neck of a snowman.

And then he will appear again

As Harry Hole and his team begin their investigation they discover that an alarming number of wives and mothers have gone missing over the years.

And when the snow is gone...

When a second woman disappears it seems that Harry's worst suspicions are confirmed: for the first time in his career Harry finds himself confronted with a serial killer operating on his home turf.

...he will have taken someone else.

Looking for sustained suspense, plot twists and turns? The Snowman could be your next read. Meantime, I am onto Book 8, The Leopard, and I can't wait.

easy listening

I read Nesbo's The Son and loved it but this story seemed to descend into a rambling plot. How it got to be a movie, I'll never know - perhaps with a lot of editing.

Disappointed

I was guessing all the way and getting some of it right but lots of twists and turns. Love Sean Barrett’s narration which fits the storyline so well.

I love the complex plot and the way jo weaves all sorts of educational information into the work. I guessed the killer this time although i have now listened to 7 books before working out the killer

Love the complex plots

Really enjoyed this book. I feel this one has been the best of the series so far.

The characters were brilliant and a few twists in there that I did not see coming.

Great narration as always.

Great read.

Narrator

Loved it. Wanted the drive to last longer. My first Harry Hole book, there were references to previous events but in passing and not so many that it detracted from the experience, but I'll definitely be going back to read/listen to more! There was a total change of style/narrative about 3/4 of the way through which I enjoyed slightly less, perhaps just because it was a change but still had me listening intently to the end. great narrator, well read. great story.

gripping and great characters
