Engrossing and Entertaining
A variety of realistic characters. Plot kept me guessing. Vivid portrayal of setting. Though this is historical "fiction", I felt I learned a great deal about what life was like in 1820s London. The voice actor (narrator) delivered a superb performance .

Fast moving historical mystery romance
This was a excellent and fast moving tale that reminds one of Charles Dickens many stories with lots of colorful characters and vivid details of 1820's London. The book revolves around a young lady who in the process of helping one of her foster sisters comes into contact with a young boy named Eel (who knows the streets well) and a man of mystery whom she finds herself falling for, despite herself. There are robberies and secret societies that connect everything and everyone in the story to our heroine. The narrator was talented and kept me listening, not wanting to pause the story at any time. Great book from a first time author. Can't wait to see what Z. Minor is working on next.

A Wonderful Cast of Characters
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I'll have to admit that my favorite character is Eel the very resourceful boy who becomes Nicola's protector and champion. Fearsome and fearless, he becomes the most valuable ally for Nicola and the Earl of Woodheaven. There is more than one plot that needs disentangling and the book becomes a little complex at times because of it, but it is not hard to listen to. The happy endings (yes there is more than one...) are always a welcomed aspect of any book and these will not disappoint the romantic at hearts. The mysteries unravel at a fast pace and keep your attention on the alert. The interpretation is also well mastered, even though I could have done without the whiny undertones the narrator used in several passages. A lighthearted book to listen to if you like historical mysteries.

Step back in time
The very British voice of the narrator makes it easy to lose yourself in the Regency setting. And yet the intrigue could be ripped from today's headlines. An engaging read. Hard to put down once you start.

Fantastic historical mystery
Plenty of intrigue and twists in this mystery. Good doses of humor, and plenty of romance as we follow Nicola and Clay’s adventure in Regency England. Excellently read by the narrator, she really captured the characters. I highly recommend this one! Great Historical Mystery and Romance!
I was pulled into this listen from the very beginning and enjoyed the story very much. I found the mystery and romance very well done. I loved the twists this book had and would definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. There are some very endearing characters in this story, with Eels being my favorite. I was impressed by the narrator as this was my first listen of her.

Traitors, spies, lost families and love...
Well, it's the first book for me by Z. Minor and the first narration by Nina Nato, and I quite liked the experience - with only the slightest bit of criticism:)
Generally it's a very intriguing story, full of action and suspence, with a bit of romance and fun in between. The plot is complex with two main crime investigations going on and the "looking for your lost parents" subplot added to the mix. But this is exactly what got me lost at times... it just felt like there's really too much going on, to the point of me asking myself: is it about treason? or thefts? or looking for parents? I have to tell you it was a bit confusing in the first 2 hours... But as the plot progresses it all begins to intertwine and becomes much more logical, with all the events reaching a satisfactory conclusion.
The plot is on the whole pretty fast-paced, although there are some scenes that kind of slow it down. However, unnecessary as they may feel for the plot, they add some insight into the personality of the main characters and serve as a kind of relief in this otherwise action-packed story. Also, some of the events seem a little sudden, with no earlier clues pointing in their direction, and feel like rather miraculous solutions to some of the smaller mysteries put here and there in the plotline... But again, they seem to be there to lighten the mood of the story, so that didn't bother me so much...
On the whole, I liked the plot and the main characters quite a lot and I can recommend the book to any mystery lovers.
As for the interpretation, it's quite good, too. I generally liked the pace of Ms Nato's reading, her acting skills are also very good. The only thing that I liked a little bit less was the voices of some male characters; some of them sounded quite similar to one another, which meant that I had to concentrate a bit more than usual not to lose track of who was speaking. But overall it's a good interpretation of the book.

OK
Any additional comments?
I did not like it as much as I wanted to. I loved the description and I thought that it is up my street but there is something about it, which I can't put my finger on it, that I did not like. It was interesting and slow going at times.
That is not to say the book was bad but I just could not connect with the characters.
I would still recommend it, since others might like it more then I did.

Great!
I just love historical mysteries and romance and it can't get better than being set in the Regency period. This book was full of adventure and mystery. The romance was nice and not over the top. There was a lot of banter between Clay and Nicola and I enjoying going along with them on their investigations.
The narrator did a great job of performing all of the characters and I wouldn't hesitate at picking up more titles performed by her.
This was a delightfully entertaining book and I couldn't put it down. I listened to it all in one go. I will definitely be following the rest of the series.
I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy provided by the author at my own request.
