Great Tale of the Australian Outback
What did you like most about The Silent Country?
At first I was dubious about how this story was unfolding but, as it progressed, I became more engrossed. I found it to be a great story about the great Australian outback.
What did you like best about this story?
The story unfolded very satisfyingly and it was good listening. In particular, it satisfied my yearning for tales of rural and remote Australia.
Have you listened to any of Kate Hood’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I don't recall listening to Kate Hood previously but this was a good performance.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There was no one great moment but the story involved a series of events that reflected life in Australia, particularly the outback.
Any additional comments?
I have been a little ambivalent about Di Morrissey as an author, I have read only a couple of titles and they seemed a bit predictable. And this one is too. And yet the characters in all her books come to life for me and she is a great story-teller. I feel like a child wanting "happy ever after" endings which she seems to deliver but, more than than, she tells her stories in interesting ways. I expect I shall now read (or listen to) more of her many books.

I really enjoyed the story and the depiction of outback Australia. Maxim Topov lives in a world all his own.
