Summary

We’ve all done things we’re ashamed of . . .

When Ava arrives at Brodie’s Watch, she thinks she has found the perfect place to hide from her past. Something terrible happened, something she is deeply ashamed of, and all she wants is to forget.

But the old house on the hill both welcomes and repels her and Ava quickly begins to suspect she is not alone. Either that or she is losing her mind.

The house is full of secrets, but is the creeping sense of danger coming from within its walls, or from somewhere else entirely?

Critic Reviews

This will haunt you. Riveting!
A close-knit community, a gothic house, and a shadowy stranger inside . . . I love Tess's writing and The Shape Of Night is as compulsive as it gets.
Beguiling! Gerritsen is at her atmospheric best in this spine-tingling tale of a lone woman, an old house, and all the secrets everyone tries to hide.
A captivating and seductive tale exploring the dark embrace of grief and guilt, reminding us that nothing can haunt us as insidiously as our personal demons. This is the incomparable Gerritsen at her finest!
Curl up in your favorite reading chair and let Tess Gerritsen whisk you away to a coastal town reminiscent of Daphne Du Maurier’s best settings. As the chills run down your spine, and the creeping sense of danger curls your toes, don’t say I didn’t warn you: you are in for a dark and sexy night, and you will be up very late with Tess’ twisted, haunting tale.
The Shape of Night is one helluva thrill ride with twists and turns I didn’t see coming. I honestly could not put the book down . . . This is one of Gerritsen’s best mysteries ever.
A clever contemporary spin on the Gothic novel.
Well paced and written with verve.
This riveting Gothic thriller explores the limits of love, guilt, and punishment.
Reminiscent of the best of du Maurier, this modern gothic is eerie, tantalizing, spine-tingling, and sensual . . . an altogether delicious read.

love Tess she is an awesome writer but this book is very different from her other books but I still liked it was a good story in the end.
Hillary Huber who read the story did an excellent job, will definitely look out for her name when choosing books, her voice is so soothing and not annoying like some people's voices are.

This was a good book. Personally I think it could have done without the ghost story and focused more on the other parts to make it more interesting.
Most aspects of the ghost story were pretty silly. But I’ll still give this 4 stars as I Love Tess Gerritsen and her books.

Intriguing

Having read many other books by this author, and finding them thrilling, I was disappointed with this one. Found it terribly slow and hard work to get through. Nothing thrilling here.

Disappointed
