2018 Audie Award Finalist for Multi-Voiced Performance

The entrancing story of a reclusive Hollywood starlet as she reflects on her relentless rise to the top and the long-held secrets the public could never imagine - from the best-selling author of Daisy Jones & The Six.

Reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now?

Summoned to Evelyn’s luxurious apartment, Monique listens in fascination as the actress tells her story. From making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the ‘80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way, Evelyn unspools a tale of ruthless ambition, unexpected friendship and a great forbidden love.

Monique begins to feel a very real connection to the legendary star, but as Evelyn’s story nears its conclusion, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique’s own in tragic and irreversible ways.

"Riveting, heart-wrenching, and full of Old Hollywood glamour, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is one of the most captivating reads of 2017." (Buzzfeed)

A walk back through time

I really enjoyed this book. It has an interesting storyline and helped to take my mind off of the current social climate.

A goodie!

Was recommended this a couple of times and it did not disappoint! I found myself fan casting and everything, haha. My only criticism is the dislike-ably modest and perfect Monique personality, but the rest was great and I was very invested in all the characters in Evelyn’s life!

Not for lovers of literature

I hate to give a bad review but I was duped by the popularity of this book. If you enjoy literature, complex deep characters, clever intriguing plots, don’t bother. Why does modern literature always have to be a statement of women’s rights, domestic violence, LGBTQ? Why does every heroine have to be bisexual and scornful of men? The main character focuses on her irresistible beauty and sizeable bosoms. It’s yaaaawn.

A book about love and sacrifice

I could not stop listening to this book. It's very well written and beautifully read, in a way that captures the mind and allows us to create the images of each scene. I felt like I was watching a movie. Thoroughly enjoyed this.
