An Entertaining Thriller
Whilst not in the top echalon of Christie's works, The Seven Dials Mystery is charming and entertaining with some droll comic dialogue sweetening its fairly preposterous plot.
Emilia Fox's reading provoked an odd reaction for me. At first (and particularly after having been spoiled by so many superb Hugh Fraser narrations), I found her reading pitched in an almost juvenile, exaggerated style, which jarred with the sophisticated tone of Fraser.
Given immersion and time with the story though, it became obvious that Seven Dials is a light, diverting and distinctly comic novel (with more than a nod to P. G. Wodehouse). One you grasp that this is a different sort of Christie book, Fox's reading starts to feel well-judged and by the book's end, I felt attached to her interpretation.
If you are looking for a light, self-effacing diversion, this book will work for you. And as always, Christie is great company as a writer.

Love the story, don’t love the narrator
Slightly different kind of Agatha story, but awesome and complete with twists as always. The only let down is the narrator Emilia Fox - she can’t get the characters’ voices right and it really takes away from the story.

Just not one of her best stories, poorly read.
Apart from the fact that is not most riveting of Agatha Christie’s book, it is most certainly not helped by the narrator. A very poor performance and a voice that is not at all interesting to listen to. With so many characters this narrator fails to engage the listener with the story line through poor acting skills.
