About this listen

For humans and vampires, the rules of survival are the same: never trust, never yield, and always–always–guard your heart.

The adopted human daughter of the Nightborn vampire king, Oraya carved her place in a world designed to kill her. Her only chance to become something more than prey is entering the Kejari: a legendary tournament held by the goddess of death herself.

But winning won’t be easy amongst the most vicious warriors from all three vampire houses. To survive, Oraya is forced to make an alliance with a mysterious rival.

Everything about Raihn is dangerous. He is a ruthless vampire, an efficient killer, an enemy to her father’s crown…and her greatest competition. Yet, what terrifies Oraya most of all is that she finds herself oddly drawn to him.

But there’s no room for compassion in the Kejari. War for the House of Night brews, shattering everything that Oraya thought she knew about her home.

In a kingdom where nothing is more deadly than love, Raihn may understand her more than anyone, but their blossoming attraction could be her downfall.

The Serpent and the Wings of Night is the first book in the Crowns of Nyaxia series, a heart-wrenching romance full of dark magic and bloodthirsty intrigue.

There was a lot going on, found it tricky at times to keep up with all the characters, narration was great I enjoy Amanda Leigh Cobb’s tone and expression. The story line is relatively fast paced which was great, however there were quite a few moments of Oraya ‘prattling on’ which lost the momentum of the story line… Over all it’s a action packed story, with a nice twist at the end that’s got me invested in the next book ‘The ashes and the star-cursed King.

Nice twist!

Loved this - it definitely helped with the Empyrean and Crescent City hangover. Great pacing, clear story, good world building and that twist - I didn't know where it was going at any point! Excited to get stuck into the rest of the series.

Kept me on my toes!

I don’t think I’ve audibly gasped while reading a book as much as I did through this one. Honestly, an excellent book, and really well performed in this audio book version. Highly recommended.

Worldbuilding. High stakes. Passion. Twists and turns. Compelling characters. A plot that had me enthralled from the first chapter.

Loved it 😍

This is my first Carissa Broadbent book and it won’t be my last! I loved the secrets that slowly get revealed and keep you hooked for thy great whole book. Amanda Leigh Cobb was the perfect narrator for this book. At the end they had a short prequal to the next book, a teaser for the next book to be released; I really hope the make narrator is not a main narrator in upcoming books. His serious deep baritone voice does not match the cheeky character of raine.

Amazing. Can’t wait for the next book!

Great story, dragged on a little in the middle but would recommend. Author 100% won me over by adding the extra content to the audiobook. Will be recommending this to others and reading the second book.

Great story!
