About this listen

A regular weekday morning veers drastically off-course for a group of strangers whose paths cross in a London café - their lives never to be the same again when an apparently crazed gunman holds them hostage.

But there is more to the situation than first meets the eye, and as the captives grapple with their own inner demons, the line between right and wrong starts to blur. Will the secrets they keep stop them from escaping with their lives?

Another tense, multi-dimensional drama from the writer of the Richard & Judy best seller After the Fall.

Grasping story

Charity wrote a really moving, wondrous story. My only disappointment is the unnecessary blasphemy from one character in particular. Please remember folk who struggle with this.

What a beautiful story

A beautiful, disturbing, complex and thoughtful story that brings out so many emotions. Incredible relationship building. Narrator was brilliant. Wonderfully well written, Charity is a superb, complex writer. This is the second of her books I've read. Delighted there are more to read!

Wonderful!

This story amalgamates a siege in a café by a hostile, seemingly unhinged gunman, with coercive control domestic violence back story and then incorporates a harrowing refugee survival story from the Rwandan Genocide.

Triggering at times, it brought me to tears, it warmed by heart, it chilled my bones. Enthralling listen, but clear your schedule as you won't want to switch off until the end.

Compelling listen - make time, clear your schedule
