About this listen

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Good Sister and The Mother-in-Law with new novel Darling Girls out soon.

"This is women's fiction at its finest ... a wonderfully satisfying story ... touching, tender, and meticulously researched" Liane Moriarty, author of Big Little Lies and The Husband's Secret

In a family of midwives, some secrets are too big to keep hidden ...

Neva Bradley, a third-generation midwife, is determined to keep the details surrounding her own pregnancy - including the identity of the baby's father - hidden from her family and co-workers for as long as possible.
Her mother, Grace, cannot let this secret rest, even while her own life begins to crumble around her.

For Floss, Neva's grandmother and a retired midwife, Neva's situation thrusts her back 60 years in time to a secret that eerily mirrors her granddaughter's - a secret which, if revealed, will have life-changing consequences for them all.

Sweet baby story but the readers voice almost made me turn it off... high pitched, saccharine, unrealistic .

Sentimental story... but we all love babies

Great storyline but the narration made it very hard to persist through. Took away from the story and feel like it would have been more enjoyable to read as a paperback. Love all of Sally’s books and this was no different!

Narrator made me nearly stop listening

The story was good, predictable and occasionally frustrating, but the narration was really distracting. The voice of Neva sounded like a fake small child voice and the whole thing was really off putting and hard to enjoy. It took from enjoying the story. I think if I had read the book instead it would have been far more enjoyable. Disappointed.

Really distracting narration

heart warming and beautiful, the narrator, the characters, the storyline were all in sync and just perfect.
I would recommend this book to everyone!! Specially anyone who is in need of a warm hug, and a reminder of how precious, and how beautiful, birth and motherhood are

This book was a lovely listen with a very sweet story. As a mother myself I got actual chills during some of the births, brought back so many fond memories! Loved it!
