Knowing your heritage

Knowing your heritage is so much more important than we know. Both my sons did not grow up with their biological father and have so many traits that seem only to be linked by biology.
I loved this exploration of how our genetics shape us, especially the conversation about donor conceived children and the impact of knowing/not knowing their donor parent.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and I hope this will benefit many generations.

Wonderful

Although I am white and never need it to question my heritage this audio book is well worth it to listen to. It's full of knowledge and emotions gracefully put together.

Good listen.

An interesting revelation of the unexpected consequences of having your DNA tested. 0% match with Dad? WTF.?
Poor Irish Catholic guilt ridden mother eventually confesses to a one night stand with a unknown black man.. One minute of lust creats a lifetime of confusion, anger and mistrust which eventually resolves itself but oh so painfully for the poor poor mother. I get it. I'm Irish too and the mother really had no choice but to hide the truth and eventually be convinced that her own lie was the truth. Catholic guilt and shame abounds here.
The fact was that her mum and dad loved her. And her black sperm doner simply produced the single sperm required one drunken night. I really doubt he'd have any thing to offer which remotely matches what the non biological but nevertheless real Dad gave to this self obsessed millenial.
Sorry Georgina. Get a life. Be grateful you're here. Your sperm provider is Nigerian. Embrace that culture for sure but quit looking for another father. You had a real one for 20+ years. Honour his love and memory.

helped me understand her "secret"

once I started listening to this book I wanted to keep going as I was reeled in from the beginning. Sometimes it's a bit drawn out but on reflection this is the experience of the author. It helped me understand the issue.
