Abigail Foster fears she will end up a spinster, especially as she has little dowry to improve her charms and the one man she thought might marry her - a longtime friend - has fallen for her younger, prettier sister. When financial problems force her family to sell their London home, a strange solicitor arrives with an astounding offer: the use of a distant manor house abandoned for 18 years. I couldn't put it down! A very well narrated and interesting story with mystery and romance. Well worth a listen! The narrater keeps your attention from beginning to end and is very easy to listen to.

Another excellent story with excellent narration! I enjoyed how the mystery unfolded with its twists and turns. I loved how the kind-hearted and selfless Abigail came to realise her inner and outer beauty, and that ‘just desserts’ were dished out appropriately in the end. Bravo!

This is my fifth Julie Klassen story and I still think her a consummate story teller while this is an excellent regency story it does drag on at times, with miniscule hints. 😳 a couple of times I thought oh FFS get to the point. However it's well written and very well narrated.
Still very worth the listen/read 😊

Quite liked the gothic story and the characters. Feel that the authors tried too hard to present the gospel to readers. Christians already know it and non Christians would baulk at the repetition. I would think someone struggling with and discussing their faith or someone explaining their reasons and motivations could be woven in more subtly and less annoyingly.
