Story
Though we talk about wanting to age gracefully, the truth is that when it comes to getting older, we’re programmed to dread an inevitable decline: in our health, our looks, our sexual relationships, even the pleasure we take in living life. But as Christiane Northrup, MD, shows us in this profoundly empowering program, we have it in us to make growing older an entirely different experience for both our bodies and our souls.

From the host of Medicine or Myth? and Embarrassing Bodies Down Under. Night sweats, hot flushes, anxiety, insomnia, exhaustion, itchy skin, low libido, painful sex. Any of these sound familiar? Ninety per cent of women experience these symptoms some time between the ages of 40 and 60, but shhhhh...just suck it up, princess. And nobody mention the M word. Menopause and perimenopause (the hormonal roller-coaster years leading up to a woman's last period) are among our last taboo subjects.

Story
Ever since medical school, Dr. Christiane Northrup has been guided by an essential truth about the way our bodies, minds, and souls are intertwined. It's the same truth Edgar Cayce expressed in this famous formula: The spirit is life. The mind is the builder. The physical is the result. When we don't grasp this - when we view our bodily well-being in isolation - life can devolve into constant worry about our health and constant battling to make our bodies "behave".

Highly sensitive people - or empaths - see life through the eyes of compassion and caring. They were born that way. As a result, they carry a tremendous amount of inner light. But they’re also the favored prey of “vampires” who feed off empaths’ energy and disrupt their lives on every level - physical, emotional, and financial.

Publisher's Summary
Even though studies show that menopause doesn't decrease libido, ease of reaching orgasm, or sexual satisfaction, the majority of menopausal women aren't experiencing the pleasure and sexual satisfaction that is their birthright. It is a long-held misconception that menopause signals "the beginning of the end", but nothing could be further from the truth. In this fascinating work, Dr. Northrup candidly guides you toward experiencing life after 50 as the most pleasurable time of your life!

Important Messages for all
If you could sum up The Secret Pleasures of Menopause in three words, what would they be?
Relief. Makes sense.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Secret Pleasures of Menopause?
Menopause is not a sign of a woman's body in decline.
What does Christiane Northrup bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Christiane has a confidence that is expressed more clearly through her tone and word emphasis that really come across in the audio. Her voice is soothing, comforting and reassuring. I can really tell that she is down-to-earth and in touch with everyday concerns of women.
What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?
Great to hear, from an experienced doctor that is also a woman, that menopause is a normal process can be much better than what most people say it is. Thank God she says a lot of what goes through my own mind that, "God don't make junk!" Sorry if that is a Southern expression with bad grammar.

Liberating
I was introduced to Dr Northrup by a dear friend who was telling me about Bio Identical Hormones as an alternative for HRT for my wife.
The more I looked into this womans amazing work the more blown away I was by the wisdom, love and encouragement she uses in her delivery of the material.
I listened to this and then recommended it to my wife who is also wrapt in the content and the suggestions for seeking pleasure.
Although this is a book primarilly for women, I encourage men to read it as well because the more you know about the mystery of your woman the better your life with her will be.
Life without sex is no life at all. Life with amazing sex is a life lived to the fullest potential because the joy and bliss will flow to all other areas of your life as you awaken to the possibilities it offers.
Enjoy your liberation and embracing of the pleasures life has to offer

Ridiculous book
To me, this book was ridiculous. I chose this book because I was going through menopause and was searching for ways to manage the symptoms. This book is more or less only about sex. It is very goofy and corny and nauseating. It was in no way helpful regarding how to manage menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats. And the resulting sleep deprivation and so much more. This book was a complete waste of time.

Sappiness
I was looking for the science of menopause. This is a "hippy-trippy love yourself better and it will all be OK" book. I kept fastforwarding to see if she said anything new after the intro. Not much. Way too sappy for me.

awful!
What disappointed you about The Secret Pleasures of Menopause?
This was a very misleading informational book The information was probably good but the contents is more of instructional pleasuring yourself than information regarding menopause. Absolutely awful narration. She should have hired someone else to narrate. If so, it may have been received better.
