From the author of the Kindle Number One bestseller The Letter comes a heartbreaking novel of tragedy, hope and second chances, set in England in 1976 and the present day, and in Australia. Readers who treasure the novels of Lesley Pearse and Susan Lewis will adore this author. It's the long hot summer of 1976 and the regulars of The Taverners pub in Manchester are preparing for a day trip to Blackpool. But after a horrific coach crash not all of the day trippers make it home. Forty years later and the consequences of that fateful day are still being felt by the families. But what if not all was as it seemed on that stretch of motorway and someone has been hiding a devastating secret...?©2016 Kathryn Hughes 20th Century Family Life Fiction Genre Fiction Historical Fiction Women's Fiction Heartfelt Tear-jerking

This is the second Kathryn Hughes book I have read and I can’t wait to read The Key. The characters were well developed and seemed real as you are drawn into their lives. I will, however, always wonder how the pub caught fire. 😀 Once again a brilliant performance by Rachel Atkins.

Great characters - caution spoiler alert

I purchased this title after listening to The Letter, by the same author. I can't say which I enjoyed more, as they're quite different, but both thoroughly enjoyable. I think both would make good movies. The Secret is a beautifully woven story, which really moved me, numerous times. Well narrated, very engaging, and highly recommended.

Another potential movie from Kathryn Hughes
