Eyes Peeled is the Isle of Man’s first and only detective agency. Not much happens on the idyllic Island that needs detecting, so on the whole, the team is not the most adept. In fact, generally speaking, they’re pretty useless.

One of the agency’s more eager employees is Sam Levy. Nearing 40, he’s finally found a job he actually loves - even if he isn’t particularly good at it. Okay, let’s be honest. He’s rubbish. Still, Sam’s services are secured by persons unknown to track down a glamorous yet mysterious art dealer recently arrived on the sleepy Island. Her arrival itself isn’t overly suspicious...but the international crime boss hot on her tail most certainly is!

Sam is desperate to prove himself and impress his pretty colleague, but this investigation could end up putting him in rather a spot of bother, with our hero risking life, limb and hairpiece! With this case, he could well have bitten off more than he can chew.

Having never liked a book really read by a male I have to admit that I may have prejudged and this was very enjoyable and very well read. The story pulled me in right from the beginning made me laugh so hard that I ended up having some of my Gatorade come out of my nose. This book is something I would highly recommend anyone to read it is so well written and it is so funny and just also pretty mysterious I absolutely loved it. 11/10

I listen to lots of cosy crime stories. This story is a great crime story with a very funny leading character. He made me laugh out loud.

Some of the absurdity was a bit tedious but an enjoyable read nonetheless , a fun read, enjoyed the location references.

Sam is a bumbling but adorable Private eye who is desperately in love with Abby. He tries hard to impress her and eventually in spite of his ineptitude wins her heart.
