Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Rick Riordon's sequel to The Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson and The Sea of Monsters is now available to download, unabridged and read by the actor Jesse Bernstein.

Half boy. Half God. All Hero.

I look like a normal kid. Only there's a difference. Poseidon, God of the Sea is my dad. Which sounds cool, but actually means there is usually someone (or something), somewhere, trying to kill me.

Now I live at Camp Half-Blood, with other kids like me. But Camp Half-Blood is a bit different to most summer camps. Instead of toasting marshmallows and singing campfire songs, we battle giant cannibals at dodgeball.

This time, we're under attack and I need to get my hands on the Golden Fleece or we'll be invaded by monsters. Big ones.

Love the book but terrible voice work

I love Percy Jackson series but honestly it’s hard to enjoy with this narrator. The accents are terrible. Either character sound the same or the odd character with different voice is such a bad impression makes me wish that character would come up less. There’s a lack of urgency in important parts where characters meant to be panicked or scream, it all sounds like they just having a monotone conversation still.

Spot on

The Sea of Monsters is phenomenal ending on one great cliffhanger. Plus the balance between Greek mythology and todays society is still spot on. Jesse Bernstein is still doing an awesome performance as narrator.

Imaginative and Clever

I admire the amount of research into Greek mythology used to create such a brilliant world so full of adventures.

Awesome at any age!

Even at 35, I love this series so much that whilst I was waiting for my next credit to get book 4, I went back and started the series again! The performance is on point all the way, completely absorbed in each character and so glad they stick to the same narrator throughout the series!

This narrator is abysmal

The story is great but I came so close to turning this off because the narrator is unbelievably annoying. His inflections are all off, leaving sentences hanging in midair like a question for no good reason. His falsetto voice he uses for every female character is also grating. I'd definitely vote you buy the book, and skip this torture!!

Good book, shame about the reader...

A great children's story - I like how it weaves a modern story in with elements of Ancient Greek Mythology. The main character can be painfully obtuse at times but you don't really mind that too much.

I have to say the my only gripe is the person reading it. Maybe it's me but he seems to be awful at putting expression in to dialogue and given that this story is written in the first person it can make it difficult to enjoy.

Still, once you do get past the narrator it's still a good yarn.

Loved the Story

Loved the story, but the reader was awful.
He has a good guy voice and a bad guy voice. It can be really confusing.

Good story but narrator is bad

The story is pretty good I like the level of research into Greek mythology that appears to be done (I don’t know if it’s factually correct or not but it seems detailed at least to someone who knows very little on the subject) The narrator though, at first I though it was just an American accent thing and that’s fair enough but then there’s some stuff he just out right pronounces like no English speaker anywhere does and other times he puts the emphasis on entirely the wrong word in sentence and it dosnt make any sense at all. Was just as bad in the first book to the point where I do find it distracting from the story :(
