Just days after Raynor Winn learns that Moth, her husband of 32 years, is terminally ill, their home is taken away and they lose their livelihood. With nothing left and little time, they make the brave and impulsive decision to walk the 630 miles of the sea-swept South West Coast Path.
Carrying only the essentials for survival on their backs, they live wild in the ancient, weathered landscape of cliffs, sea and sky. Yet through every step, their walk becomes a remarkable journey. TBH while I respect that the author narrated it herself, being such a personal story, the monotone, most often depressing voice nearly caused me to stop listening it many times. I’m glad I didn’t as I did enjoy the last couple of chapters more.
I think I’d have preferred to read the book than listen in this particular instance.
I don’t know if those from the UK are a tactless, miserable bunch but I had trouble believing that some of the exchanges with the non-hiking public were not embellished. If not, boy, I’m glad I’m Australian 😆
I will now go google where they are at now.. hoping moth is still alive. And they are back on their feet financially.
