have they found their castle???

the short back and forth between characters in each chapter helped to flow through the events. crude imagery of a desperate time helped in story immersion. I'm a big fan of this book series and hope the story is revisited... from the beginning maybe, jangos story???

One of the best post-apocalyptic series!

This is a continuation of the original series The Last Survivors. I highly recommend listening to that series first so you'll know more about these characters and the world they live in. I've already enjoyed this series before, but this box set includes an all new short story, book 2.5. I couldn't miss out on more of Kirby, Bray, and William! It felt like a nice reunion with old friends/characters. I always enjoy hearing Sean Runnette's narration! Book 2.5 is most definitely a nice addition to the series! Still sad to see this series had ended, but I look forward to more of what T.W. Piperbrook will write in the future!

A fantastic story from the first to the last book.

This series is in my opinion a modern classic! It has been one of my favorite world's to sink into and is full of peril and triumph. The audible version is read nearly perfectly. I feel the inflections and tone used for Kirby's voice to be a little too masculine at times though. This could momentarily be distracting. Not enough to tarnish the overall performance. The story encompasses a vast cast of characters, locales, challenges and twists and turns. The characters evolve and I felt myself invested in their outcomes. insurmountable odds are faced and at times overcome but just as many times we lose good characters to the reality of the world that has been imagined so thoroughly. Though I feel myself wanting more. I still find myself thoroughly satisfied with the conclusion.

Amazing.

When I was looking at the beginning of the original series a review caught my eye about how terrible and nasty the characters were. This person never read past the first few chapters of book 1 in the entire series. I loved every second of this series and urge anyone thinking about reading it to hurry up and do so. Well written, well performed, satisfying ending that gives you hope for the characters future.

Great series!!

One of the best in the genre! From the story, to the narration, to the characters you are brought along on an exciting journey. Sean is the best!! I did not want it to end and hope that Bobby Adair and T. W. Piperbrook continue The Last Survivors series.

Pleasant surprise

I had not been attracted to this genre previously but glad I gave the author a chance. The characters continue to build throughout along with the story. Really enjoyed being able to buy as a “boxed set” rather than having to chase after the next book in the series.

better than the last survivors

I've read all 6 books the last survivors and loved them but The Ruins is another level I'm just in the middle of book 2 and its just fantastic, when I'm not listening to the audio book I'm thinking about it. I really recommend the last survivors but The Ruins is just fantastic. Hope fully one day I'll be watching all these characters on TV in a series as it would be a great tv series.

Absolute rubbish

I would not recommend this book,it was hours of repetition and boredom. The only good point was that it was guaranteed to send me to sleep.

Story

Great Story, took me a while to get used to the chapter format and you can lose your place easily if your not paying attention. The what I belive to be Scottish accent of the Narrator leave a little to be desired, sounds more Russian. Nether the less the rest of the narration is solid. Good Books Great Value.
