Publisher's Summary

The Royal Ranger is back, and the stakes are higher than ever in the world of Ranger's Apprentice!

Castle Araluen is well protected against attackers - but what if the enemy is already inside?

King Duncan and Princess Cassandra are trapped high in the south tower of Castle Araluen. In the north, Sir Horace and Ranger Commandant Gilan are besieged in an old hill fort as they wait for the Red Fox Clan's next attack. Ranger's apprentice Maddie must find the Heron brotherband and convince them to join her, so she can give her father the help he needs to break out from the hill fort and ride to confront the traitor.

Will they reach Castle Araluen in time? And when the battles have been fought and the dust has settled, who will rule the Kingdom of Araluen?

Please bring back William Zappa

Please bring William Zappa back for Ranger's Apprentice! John Keating does a good job at Brotherband but not at Ranger's Apprentice!

Needs a different reader.

John Flanagan’s story has been absolutely destroyed by this reader, John Keating. His pronunciations, pausing and characterisations ruin what is a wonderful story, typical of John Flanagan’s tale-telling. The characters in the story have undergone severe changes by Keating who ha trivialised each and every one. He should be totally relaxed. I wouldn’t give him a job reading a dictionary . He would only get pronunciations wrong anyway. 🥲

Good Story, but the narrator just doesn't cut it

I like the story, just can not get behind the narrator. Very unnatural intonation,

great story. very average narration

The storyline was excellent. However, unfortunately, the narrator made all characters sound like high-pitched, overly expressive, and whinging children. The Scandians lost all of their gruff and tough demeanor. A real shame.

Another great story from John Flanagan

Another great story from John Flanagan. I did however feel at times as though I was being beaten over the head with feminism. If you like strong, but kicking, lead female characters, you'll love it. On the other hand, if you find them to be usually unrealistic, underdeveloped, and the male support characters to be pretty uninspiring, you'll still probably like it, you just won't love it.
