About this listen

From the mountains to the valleys, from big cities to tiny towns, to the outback and our islands, Di Morrissey knows this country. She's been there. In The Road Back, Di weaves a tale of reconnection and starting over. Journalist Chris Baxter is at a crossroads. Returning with his teenage daughter to his mother's house in the beautiful township of Neverend, Chris hopes to pick up the pieces after his life takes an unexpected turn. Sometimes taking the road back is the start of a journey forward.©2014 Lady Byron Pty Ltd (P)2014 Bolinda Publishing Contemporary Fiction Genre Fiction

Critic Reviews

"Di Morrissey writes long juicy page turners; flowing sensational sagas." ( The Age)

I had a great time listening to this story. Due to my disability I find listening to your stories a great benefit for my mindfulness. The stories take me on a journey that I can not go on my self. I thank you Di Morrisey for these journey.

The narrative is reasonably engaging but the writer's language expression is not to my taste. There was little space for the reader's imagination.

Not for me

Narrator never disappoints.

My first Di Morrisey book. For the mist part, I enjoyed the story very much; it captures beautifullythe real life scenarios we often face amidst a backdrop of Australian life in the country. Di keeps you hanging in to the very end waiting for the dots to join up.

BUT... unfortunately, they never do. The ending left me singularly unsatisfied. I rewound the chapter thinking I'd accidentally skipped ahead. So many wonderful threads hinting at a bigger picture that never emerges.

In fairness to the author, who is obviously most accomplished, I have just recently finished several of Lucinda Riley's novels in which there are no shortages of amazing and unexpected surprisesand connections uncovered. Perhaps the intent was to simply regale the lives we lead without any shock and awe?

Fabulous, but is that all?

I really enjoyed this story and I had no knowledge of this period if time in Indonesia. I found the narration difficult at times. There was little difference between male and female.

Very enjoyable

Really liked hearing this book from a male voice. The trials and tribulations of this story were incredibly fascinating and the many characters were all interwoven through the whole story.
I really enjoyed this book.

Great story about Karma
