Publisher's Summary

How far would you go to save those you love?

Lowrie and Shen are the youngest people on the planet after a virus caused global infertility. Closeted in a pocket of London and doted upon by a small, ageing community, the pair spend their days mudlarking and looking for treasure - until a secret is uncovered that threatens not only their family but humanity’s entire existence.

Now Lowrie and Shen face an impossible choice: in the quiet at the end of the world, they must decide what to sacrifice to save the whole human race....

This story is psychologically carthetic

This story helped me realise that the things we really prize about our humanity - love, kindness, connection - they are universal, eternal, and will never snuffed out no matter what. This story will also help your existential crisis that may keep you up half an hour before bed at midnight. At least, I have that problem, and this story feels like it's helped me. It's got some juicy plot twists, too. Finally, it would be a truly melancholy book except that it's not, because it's pumped full of love, family, community and the best of humanity. The romance feels so genuine and organic, too, it doesn't override or offend the story at all. One more thing: the narrator is a GREAT voice actor and really makes the emotionally tense parts come to life! She's also great at different voices, and captures the 'love' of the book in her general narration, too. This is not a depressing book to get through - I didn't know I could feel so warm, fuzzy, and hopeful after a book about an apocalypse but here we are! Thank you so much the author for writing this and the narrator for putting in that great effort!
