Publisher's Summary
On the outside, Meagan Hollister appears to have it all - including a successful career. On the inside, a 15-year-old secret torments her, and the horrors she faced as a child are about to come back to haunt her.
Parker Darwin has been pursuing Meagan since the day they met. Though they've shared several steamy encounters, when he pushes for commitment - and submission in the bedroom - she runs cold.
Meagan's past catches up fast and, terrified, she goes into hiding, feeding Parker only the vaguest of details. He has fallen hard. Even her reluctance to give herself over to him doesn't hide her naturally submissive tendencies. But she holds her secrets close.
When all hell breaks loose, she insists on handling her problems alone. She can't imagine a life that includes Parker - not permanently anyway. The hurdles are too high. The damage to her psyche is too extensive.
But will Parker accept Meagan's insistent denial? Or will he breach her walls and show her another possibility?

Hot, and finally a semi-accurate BDSM tale
Would you listen to The Prize again? Why?
It was great listening to a well-written BDSM tale for once. Just the right amount of romance without laying it on thick with a trowel. Parts of it got too repetitive (the whole why-we-can't-be-together stuff was, as is typical of the genre, low-stakes and not that believeable), but hot sex scenes and a killer third act make up for it.
Which character – as performed by Yvonne Syn – was your favorite?
I loved all her character voices, she's my fav. And her accents were spot on.

Steamy, but lacking (slight spoiler ahead)
The romance and DS relationship was believable, but the mystery was lacking. (MILD SPOILER ALERT!) I don't understand why the author added the interest of the detective. Considering he had known her since she was 10 made that detail more than unsettling (think "creepy uncle waiting for puberty") and it didn't enrich the story at all. Plus it seemed more reasonable to portray a big brother connection. The narrator was very good and has quickly become one of my faves. All in all, this was a quick listen and I would recommend it if you are looking for a steamy romance, but if you are looking for a dark romance or psychological thriller then this is not the book for you.
