About this listen

The highly anticipated conclusion to the Stolen Heir duology by no. 1 Sunday Times bestselling author Holly Black.

An imprisoned prince. A vengeful queen. And a battle that will determine the future of Elfhame.

Prince Oak is paying for his betrayal. Imprisoned in the icy north and bound to the will of a monstrous new queen, he must rely on charm and calculation to survive. With High King Cardan and High Queen Jude ready to use any means necessary to retrieve their stolen heir, should Oak attempt to regain the trust of the girl he's always loved, or remain loyal to Elfhame and hand over the means to end her reign - even if it means ending Wren too...

With war looming and treachery lurking in every corner, neither Oak's guile nor his wit will be enough to keep everyone he loves alive. He will have some terrible choices to make.

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black comes the stunning blood-soaked conclusion to the Stolen Heir duology.©2024 Holly Black (P)2024 Bonnier Books UK

I wanted to love this series, as the first arc is an all time favourite. The character development is lacking. The narrator sounds like he's reading a kids storey book. I'm so disappointed. while I didn't love Rens storey, I did eventually get into it. but then the second book is from Oaks POV and it's like starting all over again.

Im disappointed, i wanted to love this series 😢

Average, I really wanted to love this series

It is always such a joy to return to Elfhame. I will admit I had a bit of trouble adjusting to Oak's POV after living in Ren's head in the first book, but he grew on me. As always the political intrigue and world building was intense and left me feeling hopelessly naive. It also had more page time dedicated to the wider crew of characters (cough Jude) which I adored.

I Love Elfhame

Don't go into it thinking it's like the original series. It's good, but it's no Queen of Nothing. The ending felt a bit empty too. I love the whole series but Oak and Suren story feels like it's full with lots of fluffy with a few good bits. The love felt a bit forced on me compared to Cardan and Judes. The first few chapters felt a bit messy with the flinging back and forth with the past and present with no indication of the flips so I kept getting whiplash when realising it was a time jump. I still love Holly Black and she's a great writer, the first three books were just so good though..

Good.

Truly atrocious narration. I had to give up 6 chapters in, I’ll read this one without the audio. Which is disappointing given how wonderful the rest of the series has been done. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by those previous narrators but this reeked of pure laziness with mispronouncing basic words like plaited and minute. He has like 4 voices tops, 2 for each gender. How did he get this job?

Terrible narration

i actually cringed every time the cardan ‘spoke’. would have been good if the director and narrator had done a little research about the previous depictions or at least had understood cardan’s character…

the narrator had cardan so wrong it was actually frustrating to listen to

the narration was horrible in my opinion, the story line wasnt much better. Compared to the 3 pervious books this release was lacking in alot of ways. I loved the other books so im extremely dissapointed

very underwhelming

The narrator truly made a mess out of this final instalment. Such a shame- waste of a credit.

A let down
