Publisher's Summary

New Orleans, four months after the events of The Queen...

Søren has been suspended from the Jesuits for a minimum of one year after confessing to fathering a child. To say he's struggling with his newfound freedom is an understatement.

Kingsley is about to be a father again and is convinced something very bad is about to happen. Nerves? Or is he right that the time has come for the Sinners to pay for their sins?

And if things couldn't get worse, a handsome private detective shows up and tells Mistress Nora that a priest has just committed suicide, and she was the last person he tried to call. He would like to know why....

She doesn't know, but Nora and her new detective friend will turn over the city to find out, meeting liars, vampires, and witches along the way. When she finds what she's looking for, she may wish she'd never stepped foot in New Orleans.

Contains mature themes.

Could’ve/should’ve been better

I enjoyed several of the earlier books in the series. This one, however, fell short of the excitement I expect from TR.

1) TR’s writing is always excellent, but I didn’t feel any sizzling chemistry between the characters, not even during the few scenes between Nora and Soren. The only real chemistry occurs between Nora and a friend.

2) There are no scenes between Kingsley and Soren, which is a huge draw for me. Others may disagree, but out of all the various couples throughout the series, Kingsley and Soren share the most intense chemistry and heartbreak.

3) SM has always been part and parcel of these books; it is an interesting and erotic connection between the characters. But here, The pain overshadows the sex scenes. Rather than 50/50, it was 70/30 the intimacy on pain so much that I felt isolated from the characters. For example, I was disappointed to learn that Soren is turned on by scalpels. Blood play isn’t sexy o even relatable to the majority of readers, including readers of hardcore SM.

4) The plot is an extended homicide investigation. I say extended because it felt stretched.(Honestly, I turned the speed to 1.8 to finish.) And the subplots are not interesting enough to save the book from itself.

5) None of the characters face an inner challenge or make any difficult choices. None of the grow or evolve in any appreciable way. Because of this, I think it would have worked much better as a simple novella. I wouldn’t mind 3 hours of it but not much more.

6) The story line involving the friend’s relationship with his fiancé doesn’t go anywhere or push the book forward. It serves no purpose that I can tell

7) It’s longest ever episode of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.

Sean and Elizabeth’s narration is stellar as always.

Exceptional narration - good continuation of Eleanor and Soren

It took a while for me to listen to this but when I did, thoroughly enjoyed the continuing story of my 3 favorite characters , Eleanor, Soren and Kingsley...This book also showcase the underlying truth of sexual abuse and secrecy behind the church of priests shrouded in white collars when they are just normal men...and the call out of women priests..

Amazing of course

Tiffany Reisz is brilliant and there is no better family of kinksters than these characters. They really dig into it here man. Cyrus Tremont is a great vanilla addition. I love how throughout the series we see all manner of relationships that Nora has. Every one is fully fleshed out & believable. Nora grows from each relationship but she is always consistently Nora. Nora’s friendship with Cyrus is great. And plenty of Nora & Soren too. Plus a mystery. It gets kind of heavy but it’s also lots of fun. Loved it.

It’s a detective story!

First off, Nora gives good character! Her newest is Private Investigator Cyrus. He doesn’t get Nora’s world of kink, he thinks she is crazy, and she lets him think that. But in true Nora fashion, she lets her actions and wit win him over. He still thinks she is crazy tho, lol. And her help has become invaluable to him in figuring out a suicide/murder case that involves a Priest and kink.

What impresses me the most about THIS particular story is Reisz is not afraid to touch the taboo subject of Priests and the controversy in the church with children (to this point it was only on the periphery). This entire series is based on The Catholic Church, a Priest, and BDSM after all. All of this sounds really weird, and it would be if Reisz’s handling of it was less than stellar. She is a phenomenal cerebral writer who does not judge, but lets her readers determine what they want while giving them both sides of the argument. Meanwhile, Nora and Soren, even now, still suffer a crisis of conscience and faith. It is a never ending battle that is continuously looked at in the mirror. Even after listening to this book, there is more story to tell with Nora & Soren. I always look forward to Reisz’s books. She has never disappointed me. My guess is that if you want to listen to this book, you are already a Original Sinners fan, otherwise, none of this story will make sense to you.

The Narrators Sean Crisden, Excellent, and Elizabeth Hart, Excellent. First, Ms Hart will always be the voice of Nora, Soren, Kingsley and cast. Her handling of accents and characters is truly beautiful. Second, Mr Crisden is now a new favorite narrator for me.

Tiffany has out done herself. this was a great story. Suspenseful, romance and crime story. Absolutely loved it. Can't wait for the next chapter of Nora's life with Soren, Nico and King!!!

Love this series

Love the series... didn’t like one of the last scenes. I ended up putting the book down for a few days which is weird because I love the characters and story line. Be aware this book is VERY different from the main series. I would totally read more along this line but it is definitely different. I’m curious the next move in this series

Absolutely loved this, another fantastic book by Tiffany Reisz. Loved the narration, really felt like I was there.
