About this listen

Jay Semko, a poet and songwriter from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, is an award-winning solo recording artist and music composer for film and television. He is best known for his work as bassist/vocalist with the band "The Northern Pikes" and has been acclaimed worldwide for his music composition on the syndicated TV series "Due South.” In his book, “The Poetry and Lyrics of Jay Semko,” Jay openly shares his personal experiences with mental health, addiction challenges, recovery, bipolar disorder, faith, spirituality, love, relationships, and the abstract realm. The audiobook contains the poems in the book as well as a selection of original song lyrics.

Fans and followers of Jay’s work as a songwriter and composer, as well as those new to his poetry, will relate to his words and be drawn in to his world. With his readings, and phrases of included music. Jay challenges the listener with a smile and a tear. Acclaimed worldwide for his music composition on "Due South," and as Canadian rock royalty for his writing and performing with the Northern Pikes, Jay gives the listener a glimpse and more into his past and present as a poet, songwriter, and human being.

From the introduction: "I simply just kept on writing...words for songs, words for comfort, words for anger, words for joy, words for sadness, words for the loneliness that lingered for so long...words, precious words — welcome aboard — let's go on a trip."
