About this listen

FROM THE #1 BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE HARRY BOSCH AND LINCOLN LAWYER SERIES

An electrifying standalone thriller that breaks all the rules!

Death is reporter Jack McEvoy's beat: his calling, his obsession. But this time, death brings McEvoy the story he never wanted to write - and the mystery he desperately needs to solve. A serial killer of unprecedented savagery and cunning is at large. His targets: homicide cops, each haunted by a murder case he couldn't crack. The killer's calling card: a quotation from the works of Edgar Allan Poe. His latest victim is McEvoy's own brother. And his last...may be McEvoy himself.

I enjoyed this offering so much, that I'm going to look for the next offering by the author in the series. Writte nin 2008, the characters didnt have as much tachnology (iPads, mobile phones etc) available to them today as modern writers, which honestly just made for a more interesting listen. I loved the way this story unfolded, and I was not able to identify the killer ahead of time . . . . I would definately recommend this title.

Great story, well developed characters

As with all Connelly's books this has a great story line and an unseen twist. 10/10

I bought this after listening to Fair Warning. An absolute stunner. Michael Connelly is a god.

I wasn’t sure what to expect having never read any of Michael Connelly work before but I’m hooked now!

Captures you and takes you along for the ride

This is one of many good books Connelly had written. I read this years ago and the second sitting did not disappoint. I have read some mediocre crime novels written by other writers and should have stuck with the best. Good story and great twist.

Great story

Overall this isn’t great, but good enough to keep me interested through to the end. I couldn’t get into the narrator, again the narration wasn’t that bad, but I thought the voices of certain characters just didn’t fit.

Good enough, glad I listened, though hardly memorable.

It kept me interested
