תבוסתם של הערבים במלחמת תש"ח בארץ-ישראל עודנה טרייה וצורבת בשנים 1950-1949 בבגדד בירת עיראק. הקהילה היהודית בבגדד שרויה בחרדה מפני הרדיפות וההתנכלויות של השלטונות וההמון. לא יעבור זמן רב והיא תעלה כמעט כולה לישראל.
