Story
Marissa Irvine arrives at 14 Tudor Grove, expecting to pick up her young son Milo from his first playdate with a boy at his new school. But the woman who answers the door isn't a mother she recognises. She isn't the nanny. She doesn't have Milo. And so begins every parent's worst nightmare. As news of the disappearance filters through the quiet Dublin suburb and an unexpected suspect is named, whispers start to spread about the women most closely connected to the shocking event. Because only one of them may have taken Milo - but they could all be blamed.

Story
When Lauren takes a photo of a stranger on a beach and shares it online, she has no idea what will come of that single click. Her daughters are surprised that she posted a photo without consent, but it’s only when she starts to get anonymous messages about the woman on the beach that she deletes the photo. It’s too little too late, and the messages escalate, prompting Lauren to confess to the woman. The woman has her own dark story, one that might explain the messages, but Lauren isn’t convinced.

Publisher's Summary
When Sylvia looks out her bedroom window at night and sees a child face down in the pond next door, she races into her neighbor's garden. But the pond is empty, and no one is answering the door. Wondering if night feeds and sleep deprivation are getting to her, she hurriedly retreats. Besides, the fact that a local child has gone missing must be preying on her mind.
Then, a week later, she hears the sound of a man crying through her bedroom wall. The man living next door, Sam, has recently moved in. His wife and children are away for the summer, and he joins them at weekends. Sylvia finds him friendly and helpful, yet she becomes increasingly uneasy about him.
Then Sylvia's little daughter wakes one night, screaming that there's a man in her room. This is followed by a series of bizarre disturbances in the house. Sylvia's husband insists it's all in her mind, but she is certain it's not - there's something very wrong on the other side of the wall.

Narrator is forced
I haven't finished this book and not sure I can mainly due to the narrator. The forced proper English that us so slow and drawn out is hard to listen to. the characters have Irsih accents but they change depending on who is in the storyline, Kate more often than not sounds like a man.
The story is complex, lots of characters and drips of storyline intertwined, which is okay if you are listening intently. I do enjoy the story and want to know how it ends, might be best to buy the book and read it than listen to it.

Entertaining
I enjoyed this story. It was fun to keep guessing how all of the different storylines intersected, who the bad guy/girl was and how it could end. I enjoyed how the author dropped hints about seemingly small instances and then did the reveal at the end. I thought the audio narration was alright and enjoyed listening to the varied accents of the characters.

Do not buy as audible book
Oh this narrator…where do I start. I wish I’d read the reviews before I purchased the book but I was still on a high from the author’s latest 2 novels, I just jumped right in. So painful. Hard to enjoy the story when the voices for each character kept changing and when it was just the rest of the story her voice was so forced. I kept going and there was a bit of a twist but not worth the struggle of getting there. The character Sylvia was so painful and I just feel as if hours of my life listening have been wasted. Maybe better if I’d read it myself.
