About this listen
The Norwood Builder is one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories and the second tale in The Return of Sherlock Holmes collection. It was first published in Collier's in the US on October 31, 1903, and in The Strand Magazine in the UK in November 1903. The story follows Holmes and Watson as they investigate John Hector McFarlane, a young lawyer accused of murdering his client, builder Jonas Oldacre, after Oldacre unexpectedly named McFarlane the sole beneficiary of his will.
