Publisher's Summary

For the audio book version, Dr. Warren Farrell personally rewrote the highlights of The Myth of Male Power as a dialogue. The questions are similar to what others will ask you when you discuss these issues. You’ll have Dr. Farrell’s best answers.

The Myth of Male Power helps each family member understand that genuine power is neither status nor money, but “control over one's life.” He documents that virtually every society that has survived has done so by persuading its sons to be disposable--whether in war or in work; and therefore indirectly as dads. And disposability is not power.

Considered the Bible of men's studies—yet highly empathetic to women (Dr. Farrell was repeatedly elected to the Board of the National Organization for Women in NYC)-- the meticulously researched The Myth of Male Power takes the listener on a captivating journey around the world, throughout history, biology, the Bible, the law, and everyday life, challenging every currently-held assumption about men, women and the family.

In his compassionate voice, Warren answers questions like, "Doesn't the fact that men earn more mean they have more power?" with "The road to high pay is a toll road—tolls such as working more hours, being away from our family, being engineers, not artists…." Farrell posits that men have mistakenly defined power as "feeling obligated to earn money someone else spends while he dies sooner."

To help each family member appreciate parents and grandparents, Farrell shares, "in the past, neither sex had genuine power; both sexes had roles: women's role: raise children; men's role: raise money. Our grandparents didn't preach rights--they preached responsibilities. Both moms and dads sacrificed so their children's lives would be better than theirs."

Dr. Farrell gives a 100% refund if this doesn’t generate one of your family’s most valuable discussions. See www.warrenfarrell.com.

Equally amazing and challenging

This book is a must read for anyone looking to understanding healthy relationships, domestic violence, trauma, equality, and the path to healing. It will challenge your assumptions and have you questioning every popular narrative you've happily accepted. But like all growth work, the first step is to acknowledge the difficult truth. The author helps the reader through this with deep knowledge, insight, and compassion for the struggles of men and women.

Brave

This was more like a podcast format which actually worked pretty well. These guys are so brave to communicate unpopular truths about our society. At the risk of being de plat formed and canceled. Good stuff.

Men's enlightenment Reality PILL

I love this audio book because it answered the questions that I've been dying to find out the answers for years. Men in our society are disposable but from now on, I am going to do things for my own happiness and not try to be women's HERO either directly or indirectly. This book gave me a piece of mind and a sense of belonging that someone (the author) out there understood us and care for us (Men). I recommend this book for every Men in relationship or single. STOP TRYING TO BE A HERO FOR WOMEN AND LET THEM TAKE RESPONSIBILITY TOO.

Feminism is cancer.

Excellent. Eye-opening. Shocking.
Dr Farrell articulates the true sexism in society and not against women, as the feminists insist. It's against boys and men.

To hear from a different perspective

I found this book to be very detailed and filled with research about the truth on the gender situation of our time. Very interesting and worth the listen! I recommend this book to anyone who wants to the know the truth about the myth of male power and who believes that sexism is targeted for the most against women. Hear the truth in this uniquely insightful book on the myth of male power!

Not the book! Just a contrived interview

This is not the book, instead just an interview that came across forced and pre-prepared.
I realise they were trying to make it more interesting and engaging, but it doesn’t feel right paying for a podcast about the book. The original source material would have been better than a conversation that just scans over the main points.
