About this listen

The world’s most beloved detective, Hercule Poirot – the legendary star of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express and currently The Haunting in Venice – returns in a stylish, diabolically clever mystery set in 1930’s London.

‘Murder! Me? How dare you!’

Hercule Poirot’s tranquil afternoon is ruined when an angry woman accosts him outside his front door. She threatens to report the famous detective to Scotland Yard for falsely accusing her of murder. Seeking sanctuary inside, Poirot is startled to find that he has a visitor – another stranger claiming to have received a letter from Poirot accusing him of killing the same man.

How many more innocent people have been sent letters? If Poirot didn’t send them, who did? And who is Barnabas Pandy, the alleged victim – is he dead or alive? Poirot has answers to find, and quickly, or more lives may be put in danger…

I bought this book because it was on sale, and I love the Poirot stories best of Christie's works. I had an open mind but no high expectations; afterall, it's Sophie Hannah, not Agatha Christie.
I'm now off to go and get some more Sophie Agatha Hannah Christie! It's got a different style but the flavour is the original, like mamma made, Poirot. The narrator, Julian Rhind-Tutt, was incredible too. An audio treat and a lovely surprise for fans of Hercule Poirot!

Channelling Agatha

Loved it .. truly in the Christie style. An enjoyable Cosy Crime. Hopefully there will be yet more to come in the not too distant future.

I thought this was an enjoyable mystery which kept me guessing. Sophie Hannah does a good job of rendering Poirot and his idiosyncrasies. I liked the narrator, who created a believable for each character . Yes, it took a while to get there, but so did Christie sometimes!

Enjoyable

there is a reason that Agatha Christy sold so well. This was not in that realm.

it was ok but too long and drawn out

Not a bad story. It’s a big long winded and I almost had to opt out but in the end I stayed to the end. The narrator was great but his Poiret isn’t all that hot. Trouble is I’ve seen all the tv series and the Belgium accent is perfect. This story is ok.

Oh I do miss Christie
