Publisher's Summary

Levi Black is at a crossroads. After suffering a loss and breaking up a long-term relationship, he’s looking for a change. When he receives the news he’s inherited a house in York, he seizes the opportunity to begin a new chapter in his life.

However, when he gets there, he finds a house that has never kept its occupants for very long. Either through death or disinclination, no one stays there, and after a few days of living in the place, Levi can understand why. Strange noises can be heard at all hours of the day and night, and disturbing and scary things begin to happen to him. He never believed in ghosts before, but when events take a sinister turn, he knows he must look for help. He finds it in the unlikely form of the blue-haired leader of a ghost tour.

Blue Billings is edgy, beautiful, and lost. Utterly lost. He conceals so many secrets that some days it’s a miracle he remembers his own name. He knows that he should ignore Levi because he threatens the tenuous grip Blue has on survival. But there’s something about the kind-eyed man that draws Blue to him. Something that demands he stay and fight for him when he would normally run in the opposite direction.

As the two men investigate the shocking truth behind Levi’s house, they also discover a deep connection that defies the short length of time they’ve known each other. But when events escalate and his life is on the line, Levi has to wonder if it was wise to trust the mysterious and amazing Blue Billings.

brilliant

a very clever story of a Levi a cartoonist who has inherited a house from his mother. Very strange things happen and he notices a ghost tour out the front the guide calls his house the murder house. Levi tracks the guide down and there ensures an amazing story of a psychic medium and the evil that surrounds the house

Brilliant through and through

First book I've listened to by Lily Morton - excellent storyline and writing style, wonderful character development. Definitely recommend!

I'm very fussy with narration, in general, so am a long-standing fan of the wonderful Joel Leslie. Even so, this book BLEW MY MIND!!! Accents are difficult, and he can just nail so many.

Excellent!

Lily Morton’s writing is always amazing. You can really get a feel for the setting and her characters are so lovable. But I really enjoyed the paranormal aspect of this book and I’m excited to jump straight into book 2!

A perfect Halloween ghost story / romance!

Levi Black inherits a house in York, known locally as ‘The Murder House’ and once mysterious noises and events occur, he approaches local ghost tour guide, Blue Billings for advice. Although he keeps it quiet, Blue has paranormal abilities but they may not be a match for the evil they find. For some reason I expected Blue to be supremely confident, but he had a lovely vulnerability that was perfect for Levi’s big-hearted generosity. The story had Lily Morton’s trademark humour, the romance was lovely, and the ghost story was intriguing, exciting and scary - it all blended perfectly. Audio narrator Joel Leslie handled Levi’s British and Blue’s Irish accents really well and gave his usual excellent performance.

Completely brilliant!

I could barely put this book down (or take off the headphones, as I listened to the exceptional audio performance of Joel Leslie) - such a gripping, absorbing storyline, let alone how engaging and fascinating the characters are!
This book is the whole package: magnificent characters, sweet and heat, exciting story and soooo much funny dialogue and snark that you'll never want it to end (I didn't!).
Everyone should read (or better still, listen) to this book - it's just simply THAT entertaining.

Loved the audiobook as much as reading it.

I loved this book so had to get the audiobook. Knowing the brilliant reader I was confident it would live up to my high expectations. It did.
