A fantastic book with characters that pop
- By A. Jecks on 16-09-2022
Publisher's Summary
Twenty years ago: a farmer and his wife are cut to pieces by a ruthless serial killer.
Now: a woman is viciously stabbed to death in the upmarket kitchen of her beautiful house on the edge of the marshes.
Then a man called Daniel Kinder walks into Saltern police station and confesses to the murder.
But DI Rowan Jackman and DS Marie Evans of the Fenland Constabulary soon discover that there is a lot more to Daniel than meets the eye. He has no memory of the first five years of his life and has a rather unusual obsession with his mother....
Full of twists and turns, this is a crime thriller that will keep you gripped until the shocking ending.

Another Great Novel
Love these books! I read Their Lost Daughters (second book) first by accident, and I have to say that I preferred that plotline to this one. However the writing is incredible and the narration absolutely perfect. Really love the level of detail and suspense, as well the characters who are so well-constructed.
Will be recommending for sure!

Keep On Guessing.
What a great listen. I have thoroughly enjoyed this book now that the end has arrived. Until then I was a nervous wreck as the detectives attempted to solve the mystery of who done it! I am always very grateful to clever people who have the gift of writing.

Good book for a road trip.
Felt like it dragged towards the end but overall very good. The suspense and twists kept us guessing to the end. The timing was perfect for a long weekend trip in the car.

These characters are comforting and beautifully performed! I've read a couple others in this series and this one was a little predictable when the others kept me guessing. I still enjoyed it, though.

Enjoyable listen
After listening to the first book in the series, 'The Sisters', could not wait to continue. Jackman and Evans make a fantastic team. The book is well written, Ellis has you guessing right to the end. The plot and characters are well developed, you feel like they are old friends. Armitage is the perfect narrator. Looking forward to continuing the adventure with the team.
