Very good

This is an impressive book. I did not realize what I was getting into when I picked it up. Wright (the current head of the foundation that John Stott started for training Christian leaders around the world) is writing a follow up to his previous book The Mission of God. This book seems to be covering similar ground (I haven't read the other, just reviews) but from a different perspective. This book is looking at the way that God has used his people (Israel in the OT and the church in the NT) and how we should learn from the ways that God has used others in the past. This is very good look at reading the Old Testament with respect to what we know of Christ from the New. I highly recommend this and I will be re-reading in print again soon.

Excellent Survey

Wright takes the reader from Genesis to Revelation, exploring the major biblical themes of mission. This volume is scholarly in its interpretation of text, yet beautifully pastoral. The author takes us through the Bible not as a disinterested academic, but as a passionate follower of Jesus hoping to inspire others to engage in mission in a profound way. Incidentally, much of this material could be easily assimilated into a sermon. Great resource for the Church!

Excellent

Excellent information about our role as Christian's and being disciples. The author reads his book, Bravo! Note: the audio chapter titles do not coordinate with the hardback book.

The "So What?" to Wright's Book The Mission God

Would you consider the audio edition of The Mission of God's People to be better than the print version?

Quite possibly. The English (Northern Ireland?) accent makes it that much better.

What did you like best about this story?

I like that this book gives a practical, "how to" from Wright's earlier book, which posits a missional hermeneutic.

Recommended listening

The author combines good writing (and reading) with a profound and well thought out Biblical narrative. It is deeply Christian and it makes sense

Some aspects of this book are not great for audio books, you need to pause it at times and just stop and think, and of course it is handy to have a Bible. However, it is great listening, you just need to listen more than once to get the full benefit, and be prepared to stop and ponder every so often.

He brings the whole Biblical Narrative together to tell the big story and make sense of it. This has to be my favourite Christian book of the last few years.

While this book is profound, it is not dry. It made me think, but I enjoyed it.

Best book on & mission I've read

It's also the best book on whole-life discipleship I've ever read. It's brilliant, compelling, moving, inspiring. I love it.

Masterful

Mr Wright masterfully handles the task of exploring & arguing for a fully integrated approach to mission for God's people. Thoroughly enjoyed the journey & look forward to reading The Mission of God. Well done
