In the Western Australian wheatbelt, refugees Anushey, Shahab and their daughter find safety in the sleepy town of Nunich. But when their daughter disappears without a trace and the town is plunged into chaos and violence, their newfound sense of security is shattered. Suspicions flare, slurs are hurled and tensions rise. Suddenly, Nunich and everyone in it find themselves caught in a storm of media frenzy, political corruption and even terrorist threats.

Then another little girl goes missing.

Told from the shifting perspectives of a refugee mother, the town mayor, a local journalist and a weary detective, The Missed isn’t just about the race to catch a predator, but also to save a community's soul.

This project is a work of fiction. Names, characters, companies and events are either the product of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, companies or events is entirely coincidental.

Bravo Sami

As a fan of Sami Shah's comedy and of crime thrillers, so was keen to listen to this production. It did not disappoint; I found myself quickly engaged and immersed in this small country town community. The format of the story is interesting and the narrative gathers pace throughout and I found myself listening to the whole tale in just two sittings. Despite being a relatively short story, I felt like I got to know the main characters really well and felt a real empathy for the parents. The social commentary as to how welcome immigrants really find themselves in Australia doesn't pull any punches!

This is a Must Listen!

This is an amazing story beautifully performed especially by the lead actress. It had special resonance for me as my childhood in rural QLD being the kid in the only Jewish family in the town. People are tolerant to a point but…… just listen to this drama.

brilliant my all involved!!

loved this brilliant work of fiction, although much knowledgeable in all these areas is very apparent.

audio engineering is brilliant, you almost feel like your there, no punches a pulled all are straight to the face and heart.

I cried and gasped in equal measure, there is so much irony and satire , great resources have been sought, like Anne Aly, such a good get all nuances are hit.

I would highly recommend to anyone, BUT beware Subject matter is sensitive and very thought provoking, definitely not recommended for anyone under 18 or who listens to sky after dark and reads Murdoch rubbish.

brilliant five stars sami shah, more writing please..

Current themes and captivating

I loved how the story was structured through an interview. It felt like the characters and events could happen anywhere in Australia. The journalists and political characters were extreme but this showed how they could influence an outcome because of their own agenda.
Thanks for a great listen!
