In the Western Australian wheatbelt, refugees Anushey, Shahab and their daughter find safety in the sleepy town of Nunich. But when their daughter disappears without a trace and the town is plunged into chaos and violence, their newfound sense of security is shattered. Suspicions flare, slurs are hurled and tensions rise. Suddenly, Nunich and everyone in it find themselves caught in a storm of media frenzy, political corruption and even terrorist threats.

Then another little girl goes missing.

Told from the shifting perspectives of a refugee mother, the town mayor, a local journalist and a weary detective, The Missed isn’t just about the race to catch a predator, but also to save a community's soul.

This project is a work of fiction. Names, characters, companies and events are either the product of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, companies or events is entirely coincidental.

Want a crime drama that is both thrilling and moving?

The Missed is, on its surface, a great ‘small town crime drama’; a tightly structured, episodic whodunnit.

It is not the crime that makes it gripping and binge-worthy, but the complexity of the emotions and social bonds explored in this small community.

However, it is the emotional intensity of its characters that elevates it to another level.

In some ways, it is an incisive stress-test of Australia’s internal narrative, where expressed values hit the wall of ingrained tribalism with devastating results.

Fans of the crime genre may get more than they expected with The Missed, which is both drama and victim impact statement.

Well worth your time.

Who's the Boss?

Hmm...since when, in Australia, does the Mayor hold sway over the local Police Sgt? πŸ€” Otherwise, a pretty good story - well put together.

Heart-stopper!

I'm going to have trouble listening to an ordinary audiobook now. This story was compelling. It delves into all different manifestations of paranoia, grief, love and friendship. It was fast-paced and gripping. I absolutely loved it!

brilliant my all involved!!

loved this brilliant work of fiction, although much knowledgeable in all these areas is very apparent.

audio engineering is brilliant, you almost feel like your there, no punches a pulled all are straight to the face and heart.

I cried and gasped in equal measure, there is so much irony and satire , great resources have been sought, like Anne Aly, such a good get all nuances are hit.

I would highly recommend to anyone, BUT beware Subject matter is sensitive and very thought provoking, definitely not recommended for anyone under 18 or who listens to sky after dark and reads Murdoch rubbish.

brilliant five stars sami shah, more writing please..

Very good!!

Story was short πŸ₯² but it was very good!! The mystery aspect and the way they tied it back in w/out doing a cliffhanger or drawing it out to make it longer was *chefs kiss

Excellent story, suspenseful, well developed.

I didn't expect it to be so good. The ensemble cast is very good and the subject matter and character actions are inciteful.
