A missing patient is a hospital ward's worst nightmare - until even more people disappear.

Senior Midwife Lucy Ryuan is used to guiding expectant mothers through pregnancy. But when two kidnappings and a vicious stabbing happen on her watch, her focus abruptly changes. Something has to be done, and Lucy is fearless enough to try. As rumours and accusations fly around Manhattan, Lucy teams up with a sceptical NYPD detective to solve the case. But the truth is far more twisted than either of them could ever have imagined.

Terrible

The plot is quite good but the lead female character is absolutely awful. Arrogant, rude, aggressive, selfish, contradictory, full of herself!!! every word available belongs to her. I wanted the character to die!!!!!

loved this book

I love James Patterson and read many of his books. This was the first book I'd listened to one. The title stood out to me as containing 2 of my favourite things in life - nursing and babies! I thoroughly enjoyed it so much, I listened every chance I got, while walking, knitting, cooking. I will definitely be doing it again soon. Once I got used to her voice, I thought the reader did an excellent job. Thank you Audible 😊

The Midwife Murders

Really didn't want this to end, loved the story, the characters and the insight into midwifery. As usual, the murder was unpredictable and excellent, but sad in it's own way. The narration was excellent.

Gripping

What a story many twists and turn but as usual Mr. Patterson doesn't disappoint. I enjoyed the way Lucy told the story and it was believable.

Unrealistic

Not a fan of the leading lady … as a midwife I found her unrealistic and she grated on my nerves with her attitude and the suggested midwifery practice
Stuck it out to the end ….. ok book pity I didn’t warm to Lucy . Not my fav JP book

Hours of my life that I won't get back!

It's really hard to disapointment me. I find the good in just about everything. But I was bitterly disapointed by this book. In all honesty, it was probably the worst I've read. Lucy was an incredibly unlikeable and arrogant protagonist. If she said 'I want to punch' someone one more time I think I couldn't have finished the book! No single chapter thrilled me, interested me or surprised me. Maybe I liked it even less as a former midwife! I hope the sloppy care and inaccurate health info does not give people the wrong impression of midwifery. Even the title is not representative of this poor story!! I really hope I can't find a better James Patterson as I've otherwise heard very good things.

The Midwife Murders

Struggled to finish. I found the main character really irritating and rude. Narration good .
