Essential wisdom

Helpful essential wisdom for those of us approaching middle age. Takes a lot of absorbing so I’ve relistened to it a few times

A book full of depth, beauty and infinite wisdom.

What a gift and treasure this book is! I know I will return to it often. Thank you Dr Hollis, for sharing your wisdom and insights in such a clear manner. The beautiful narration by Dr Hollis is just an added bonus.

So true. So grim.

The book helps mid-life individuals make sense of their experience in that stage of life. The author brings together poems, psychology and philosophy to explain the feelings, thoughts and experience of those in their mid-life, which many will find resonating.

The book was read in neutral and unenergetic voice, which I found sobering. Combined with the imperative of finding one’s own purpose again to live a second life, and the brutally rational view of marriage in mid-life, the message from the book does not sound like a cheerful one.
