Publisher's Summary

The first in a stunning new series introducing the Marlow Murder Club!

From the creator of the BBC One hit TV series Death in Paradise.

To solve an impossible murder, you need an impossible hero....

Seventy-seven-year-old Judith Potts is blissfully happy. She lives alone in a faded mansion in Marlow, sets crosswords for The Times, and there’s no man in her life to tell her what to do or how much whisky to drink.

One evening, while out swimming in the Thames, Judith witnesses a brutal murder. When the local police don’t believe her story, Judith and two unlikely friends decide to investigate for themselves. Together, they are the Marlow Murder Club.

But soon another body turns up, and it seems they have a real-life serial killer on their hands. Now the puzzle they set out to solve has become a trap from which they might never escape....

This story is too far fetched

I started of liking the idea of this but the longer I listened the more annoying it became
The narrator I liked a lot.
But the story was just silly...... so unreal.

I had expected better

Vastly disappointing for an author whose experience in writing TV crime scripts is so extensive. The plot and the main characters are incredibly naive, one might even say basic. It's a long, drawn-out saga that beggars belief in many parts. It's not so much a cosy mystery as a conversation between characters. I regret that I will not be reading the second volume in the series.

Great Narrator for light hearted tale

Narrator really bought this one to life. She was fun to listen to and made it easy to listen as I drove.
A silly light-hearted murder mystery. A very cliches about older women that were a bit grating. But otherwise an easy going tale.

Great Story

This was a good read. Thoroughly enjoyable, good plot, some predictable sequences but all in all a good listen. Would recommend

Loved the narrator

Story was clunky and silly - the three ‘club’ members prob did a lot of damage to the police enquiry with their interference.
The writing was odd - eg old lady ‘grinning’ as she slips naked into the river for a swim and many more such oddities.
However I kept listening for the narrators voice and mildly enjoyed the story as a result.

Delightful

I enjoyed the friendship of the three women. They support each other and the adventure of solving murders brings out the best in all of them. A fun, feminist romp.

Absolutely delightful

This sweet little book is a delight.
The main characters are all incredibly likeable, the story chuffs along nicely, and there is plenty of humour.
Narration is exceptional.
Can’t wait for the next book!

Loved it

Really enjoyed this book, didn’t solve it myself until almost the end which is always great. Love the characters that the author has created
