In Coyote Canyon, in Southern California, near the Arizona border, Lile Foster owns and operates a diner. He lives on the premises with his daughter, Karina, and his cook, Cecilia Hall.
During an unrelenting monsoon, these three people and several others—a worldly old sports agent and his promising client, a personal assistant returning from a short holiday spent with a secret lover, a young hoodlum from New York wanted by the police, and a family of four making their way to San Diego to enjoy the fantastic beaches there—must do their best to survive the elements, and each other.
