Everything bad that has happened between the West and Russia was because of the West refusing to give Russia everything it wanted. That made Gorbachev sad then Yeltsin sad then Putin sad. the west was very very mean. Putin cried when he was forced to kill Ukranian children which was entirely due to the West's disrespectful actions.
