About this listen

John Bunyan is most famously known for the Pilgrim's Progress, the book that at one time was the second most-read book in the world, only behind the Bible itself. However, Bunyan lived a fascinating life filled with passion for the Lord that left an undeniable mark on history. And yet, as the Bible says about Elijah, John Bunyan was “a man like us,” and faced very real highs and lows, joys and depressions throughout his 59 years on this earth.

In this volume, the author paints a picture of Bunyan’s life, borrowing from multiple viewpoints and biographers, and gives a much broader picture of the man behind one of the most timeless books ever written, which in turn gives us a deeper respect for this persecuted saint.

This classic biography was written in 1888 and borrows some of the old English from earlier writings. A few of the more obscure words have been updated for clarity and easier understanding, but these are only minor changes that do not change the meaning of the original text at all.
