Publisher's Summary

Robert Greene is a master guide for millions, distilling ancient wisdom and philosophy into essential texts for seekers of power, understanding and mastery. Now he turns to the most important subject of all - understanding people's drives and motivations, even when they are unconscious of them themselves.

We are social animals. Our very lives depend on our relationships with people. Knowing why people do what they do is the most important tool we can possess, without which our other talents can only take us so far. Drawing from the ideas and examples of Pericles, Queen Elizabeth I, Martin Luther King Jr, and many others, Greene teaches us how to detach ourselves from our own emotions and master self control, how to develop the empathy that leads to insight, how to look behind people's masks, and how to resist conformity to develop your singular sense of purpose.

Whether at work, in relationships, or in shaping the world around you, The Laws of Human Nature offers brilliant tactics for success, self-improvement, and self-defence.

highly recommended. Greene's best work so far

this book builds on Greene's previous ideas and beliefs and combines them to reveal his philosophy on how to live. his analysis on some well known and some lesser known literary and cultural figures was incredible

Absolutely phenomenal

Robert Greene has managed to articulate the most interesting and thought provoking aspects of life into a single book. The narration is outstanding and the content is an absolute MUST for anyone who wants to understand human beings on a deeper level. I can not recommend this book highly enough.

A classic !

This is a spot-on, honoust observation of human nature, one of the most insightful books on this topic I encountered to date. The author has a remarkable ability to see through learned behaviour into the motives driven by human nature. Based on the same principles as his previous book, The 48 Laws of Power, but applied wider, this book discusses human nature in a straightforward manner, illustrated by fascinating biographies, and then coaches readers how to respond to those human behaviour in others and oneself, and apply aspects of our nature positively, rather than destructively. This book helped me more than any other selfimprovement book. I listened to this book 3 times, and bought it in hard copy for future reference.
The narrator is one of the best I have ever listened to.

Stunning and insightful

The mix of science, historical examples, relatable observations and applied practices make this book much more than just popular psychology. I feel moved and refocused by the philisophies it contains. Every spare moment I found myself throwing my headphones on and finding a quiet space to listen. I'm already looking forward to circling back over it in the near future. The sheer depth of knowledge contained cannot possibly be understood in a single listen.

Should be in every school!

How this man managed to condense so many psychological theories into a simple narrative is beyond me. The books' structure starts each chapter with a 'story' and then deconstructs whatever the chapter is titled - greed, dishonesty, ego etc. I have listened to this book over and over again and always manage to learn/find something new. It's a novel, a guide, and a study. Now I listen to the book and also read my hard copy in unison, writing notes on the pages. It's fascinatingly obvious what Robert writes but you don't actually realise this until you read his theories, A truly magnificent book!

Mind blowing

On numerous occasions this book made me stop in my tracks and ponder about how certain human characteristics, tendencies and life situations related EXACTLY to myself, other people, and situations in my own life. My life itself has undergone a complete 180 thanks to the incredible insight this book so eloquently presents. It's stories, interpretations, and strategies seamlessly guide you to self mastery along with an understanding about what makes us humans tick. I would HIGHLY recommend this for anyone who is willing to sit down with an open mind and absorb the liquid gold that is Robert Greene's "The Laws of Human Nature".

Lots of knowledge, but too much to grasp

this book is filled with so much information and knowledge, that I felt a bit lost and overwhelmed by it.

a workbook or a more structured summary would be a great advantage. some practical guidance for implementing these ideas into daily life would also be appreciated.

Heavy reading - yet a wonderful book.

The law of Human Nature is basically, the first book I have finished to read & listen in my entire lifetime.

I must say that I'm amazed by a ton of valuable information that Robert has put into this book. It contains so much insight on the good and bad aspects of being human and definitely altered how I view myself and others as a human being.

Although it was a heavy reading, but it is definitely worth to read.

A Masterpiece

Robert Greene is the modern day Napoleonic strategist,Nietzsche,Emerson all rolled into one.I came into the Robert Greene world from the success genre of Napoleon Hill and Tony Robbins etc. as well as as considerable reading of the Stoics.I can safely say Mr Greene surpasses all others and goes so much deeper into the human psyche that I can only say that he has completed the work of the greatest masters of human psychology in history.I see this book as a culmination of his genius which we have followed for years in books like Power,Mastery, seduction etc.I am only afraid what would be left for him to produce having conquered this genre so completely.

Essential reading for everyone. Extremely well written and thought provoking. I simply love this book and I'm sure to re-read it. Having also read "48 Laws of Power" and "The 50th Law", I highly recommend Robert Greene's style of writing.

A long read but worth every moment.

Robert Greene does a really good job at breaking down various human-related theories and how you can apply them to your own life. Some of the stories he tells in the book, however, to help explain his theories are a bit long-winded and take a while before they start to make sense. You can tell he's put years of research from History, Psychology, Self-development & Religion into this one book. Definitely a book that I would recommend to anyone.

Big and Wholesome.

A comprehensive tomb of examples combined with deep interpretations of what makes a human tick. Thoroughly absorbed. Narration is a bit ponderous and can distract from the sheer size of the work. Was Robert Greene building to this book his whole life?

An absolute must read !

I started the book with a lot of expectations, having read other reviews and Greene's earlier work. As I went through chapter by chapter, I could not help but exclaim ... I wish this kind of education was included in schools and colleges .. so that we could seek out and experience strengthening our mental muscles at every interaction with another human being in life. It's read at a comfortable pace by Paul Michael - thank you - to enable digest the information presented. I highly recommend this book to every avid reader / listener, and anyone who wishes to experience a life and perspective changing book. Thank you Robert Greene!
