Another winner

This is another great M Herron story and another great narration. It's pity Joe had to die in the first storey but Zoë keeps him going.

Brilliant

Story is brill, characters too. Narrator is wonderful. Everything I’ve read or listened to by Mick Herron has been both excellent and unexpected.

Great author

I love this author's writing style. A bit of humor, some suspense, a respect for readers' intelligence. This series isn't as good as Slow Horses but it's interesting enough in its own right.

After the previous book, I thought this would be more about Sarah. But Zoe is quite a character and we do learn about Sarah's life. The narration was quite good. I look forward to the next book.

good story really long.

I love the story, and the narration, but got lost at times due to all the detail. Maybe it's just me but I think it could be at least 2 hours shorter

A bit of a disappointment from slow horses

I had such a high opinion of the plot, narration and character development from the slow horses series that this really seemed to pale in comparison.

Needs a good editor

I like Mick Herrons Slough House books, but this is too verbose and over written. At times I just wanted to shout ‘ get on with it’

This could be the last audible voice I hear from M Herron

Come on Mike, let's have more 'slow horses'.
This book was too wordy and slow.

Loved it!

As usual, Mick Heron’s writing is endlessly engaging - dark and intelligent - wonderfully matched by Anna Bentinck’s faultless performance! On to the next one!

Best of the Boehms

I'm a sucker for Mick Herron's writing and have enjoyed the Slow Horses and the Boehm series. I think this one was my favourite so far. Good story, lots of ideas to think about, another excellent narration by Anna Bentinck (though not sure why it's "Berm" in this book and "Beem" in the others!)

Awful narration

Good book ruined by narrator who used stupid voices with rubbish accents. Won’t be listening to rest of series as kept getting irritated and distracted by her awful performance.
