The guests are arriving, and the celebrations are starting. But there's something strange about this wedding...

Frank Szatowski hasn't seen his daughter Maggie in years, and it breaks his heart every day. So when she calls him out of the blue, to tell him that she's getting married and he's invited, Frank is overjoyed.

Maggie is marrying into one of the richest families in the country, and Frank finds himself overwhelmed by the social circle she now moves in. He'll do anything to reconnect, though, and arrives at their New Hampshire estate ready to bond however he can with Maggie's in-laws.

But as the wedding weekend gets underway, it becomes clear to Frank that although they have spared no expense, there's something strange about Maggie's fiancé. And maybe Frank shouldn't be celebrating just yet...

Critic Reviews

I now have a new favourite author . . . Jason Rekulak's characterisation is incredible, and this gripping mystery had such a heart to it. The expertly-crafted twist made me gasp (LOUISE JENSEN)
Jason Rekulak is one of my favourite writers, a gifted storyteller and wonderful stylist. The Last One at the Wedding is a marvellous blend of mystery, family drama, class tension, horror, humour, and heart. A relentless, thoughtful thriller that always keeps you guessing and lingers long after the last page is read (MICHAEL KORYTA)

I liked this story quite a lot initially. Had me hooked but as it progressed it became more noticeable there were areas in plot and people that were weak. I still enjoyed it enough to listento the end.

Good book.

this was a great listen. I loved that it was from a single person's view and liked the main character's development. it was at times predictable but did not distract from the enjoyment of the story.
2nd book I have read of this author and enjoyed it as much as the first.

kept me engaged

The ending was super abrupt- not sure if I like that or hate that. It just….ended. But an interesting storyline nonetheless

Interesting story line

The good:
-There’s a good, decent protagonist in here; an honest working class man who keeps his word.
-There are some good observations about parenting and psychology.
-There’s a decent twist halfway through the book.

The bad:
-Abrupt ending.
-After the twist is revealed the story loses impact and seems to go nowhere in the second half.

Promising but flawed

An easy listen but not a memorable one, or even a particularly engaging one. Choose the title based on reviews and recommendations which is a lesson in itself

The book equivalent of a made for TV film
