Publisher's Summary

Dinah Osborne needs a husband and she needs one now.

Not just any man will do. To meet the terms of her rather eccentric grandfather’s will, she must be safely engaged to marry a man of worth before her 21st birthday or she’ll not receive a penny of her rather large inheritance. Sadly her social climbing grandfather’s notions of worth and her own are not in the least alike, and nothing but a Lord will satisfy the terms of his will. But Dinah is alone in the world and has no entry into the select ranks of the ton.

She does, however, know a thing or two about blackmail.

Lord Benjamin Lancaster is a determined rake, a hardened gambler, and the kind of man who fills Dinah with disgust. However a title is a title, and she’s quite content to use him for her own ends.

Yet her fake fiancé is not quite as easy to handle as Dinah had hoped, and he’s determined to have more for his trouble than the financial reward promised him. Dinah is not immune to his deep blue eyes or his dark charm, but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s the last man in London that she would ever give her heart to....

An enjoyable addition ❤

An enjoyable story though I found myself wishing Aubrey Russell and August Bright would've made an appearance as they were friends of Ben's in previous books. I was also saddened that their was nothing mentioned on previous characters current lives which I feel like was just left hanging in the balance with no real epilogue.

I think I held rather high expectations for this story as Ben left an impression on me from previous boooks and I feel that perhaps it didn't live up to it. I also found myself wanting more of a villain or moments In the book where things were unsure or precarious, and had to fight or really work to get the HEA.

In fact my character of the book was Fitzwilliam 'Will' Lancaster and I am very much looking forward to his book.

The extra chapters which were for book 10 as a preview were rather exciting as the hero by all accounts is neurodivergent and I'm keen to see how that's played out.

As for the narrator Philip Battley my opinion of him had only grown over this series and I think he's done a rather good job considering the amount of characters per book and reoccurring characters that appear which in my opinion have had the same voice.
