Loved it
What made the experience of listening to The Last Guardian: Artemis Fowl, Book 8 the most enjoyable?
Just being able to take it with me and listen to it was great.
Who was your favorite character and why?
It's hard to have a favorite. It was like listening to your favorite band get back together. All of them have a little something that makes them special
Have you listened to any of Nathaniel Parker’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No I haven't, though I like the way he read. He was easy to listen to and I enjoyed his different character voices
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. I knew that I wouldn't be able to. Life is a bit busy and knew I would need to stop and start. I do though know that this is one that I will listen on long road trips with the family as they have listened to Artimes Folwer CD's in the past

You can feel it is the last in the series
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I have been a hugh fan of Artimis Fowl in the first 7 novels, and really like the interaction between the fairy world and normal people, the high pace and the funny plots. But I must say that you can feel that Eoin Colfer has run out of momentum for the last book in the series and you have a feeling that he really wants to close it. When you are used to a large diversity in new high tech gadgets and a really funny dialog this book is somewhat disappointing and a bit boring.I would recommend to read the first 7 novels and leave it at that.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Love the Artemis Fowl series, and this is an exciting ending.
What did you like best about this story?
Love Nathanial Parker reading.
Which character – as performed by Nathaniel Parker – was your favorite?
Butler.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not really - not that sort of book.
Any additional comments?
Nope.

I enjoyed the final book in the series, just as much as all the other books. Artemis has really grown as a character, and the old gang are back together for a final adventure!
A lot happens in this story, and not all of it is nice! I think the writer really pushed the boundaries. The performance was great as always.

The narration spoilt it
After listening to the previous books in this series, I found the narration of this book quite disappointing. I had gotten used to the voices of the characters in the previous books but I found the voices and accents in this one quite distracting and I found myself losing interest in the story more often than not. I could not understand why Opal has an Asian accent here.

A great end to a lovely series
All the Artemis Fowl books are enjoyable stories and this one is certainly no exception in that sense. It's a bittersweet read though, since it is the final installment in the series. Nathaniel Parker deilvers another great performance - his reading style is flowing and easy to listen to and his interpretations of the characters are sensible, organic and very well done.

Why change the narrator?
Would you try another book written by Eoin Colfer or narrated by Nathaniel Parker?
I've listened to all the books but did not like this narrator who took over for the last book. My big problem is the voice of Opal. Why did he decide to make her sound Asian/Chinese?
This was not a characteristic in any other book and was very distracting making it a terrible experience and it was just wrong and out of keeping with the rest of the books

Completion
This is the last book in the series and Eoin Colfer has tied up all the loose ends from the previous books. It has a feeling of finality about it and one fears at times what that may mean for the main characters but it is also a book of hope. There is the characteristic humour running throughout the book intertwined with deeper moments. This is a book about friendship in all its different forms and is wonderfully narrated by Nathaniel Parker. A book to be enjoyed as much by adults as children.

Not as good as Gerry O'Brien
The story was as good as ever, but this recording was distracting as I missed Gerry O'Brien's narration so much. Nathaniel Parker isn't a poor narrator (although the accents weren't brilliant) I would be put off another book read by him. But you get used to hearing the stories in the same voice and Gerry was perfect for the Artemis Fowl books.

Preferred Gerry O'brien to Nathaniel Parker
I enjoyed this story has much has the previous Fowl books, but I didn't like this narrator, much preferred Gerry O, 'Brien who narrated the previous books all the characters sounded wrong, OK I know it's probably just because I was use to the other narrator and it's just how he think they should sound, but has a listener of all the fowl books I have gotten use to how they sound with the O'Brien and sundenly they sound different and gives you a different picture of them, it's like when your favourite TV character is for some reason played by some one else, very wrong. I think the same person should narrate the whole series.

Wonderful finale to the Artemis Fowl series. The narration was mostly excellent, with great characterisation. Only jarring thing was the accent put on for Opal Koboi, but it became bearable after a while.
