But when Liam MacKenzie shows up at her house to stay for the summer, she's unsure if she can keep her resolve. The problem: He's the other reason she's a spinster.

Irritating child voice
For the most part, it is a good story, and I do like the narrator's storytelling voice, as well as character voices. My one problem...it is like nails on a chalkboard when she does the voice of the little sister. Nowhere in the story does it state that the child has a lisp, but the narrator makes it sound as though she does. Every time the kid (Pippa) says anything with an "s", it sounds like a "th". "Sir", sounds like "thir", "lessons" sounds like "lethons", and so on, with a high pitched whining voice. The kid is supposed to be seven years old, but the narrator makes her sound like she is still one or two, and learning how to pronounce things. Drives me crazy. A seven year old child is a First Grader. Old enough and intelligent enough to pronunciate things just fine and hold a decent conversation without a whiney voice.

Tender Second Chance Regency Romance
I found the narrator’s voice very soothing. This second chance romance did not turn out how I had planned; instead it had a much richer storyline. I did develop strong opinions of the characters throughout the narration. I was surprised by some of the characters’ outcomes. I especially loved the tender, romantic epilogue.

A lovely addition to the series
This second book in the Ladies of Devon series was a very enjoyable listen! I can't wait to read the rest of the series. Throughout this book I could see hints of what may come in a future book, and it made me giddy!
The ending is extremely satisfying, even more so than I expected as the story went along.
The narrator did a wonderful job! The voice she did of a 7-year-old girl was adorable and absolutely consistent. All of her voices were recognizable without being overdone, which I very much appreciate. It was very easy to listen to her narration while doing other things, because it flowed so well.

Righting past wrongs
I’ve been wanting to read one of Kasey’s books for a long time know and just hadn’t had a chance. I was able to listen to the story on audible and I loved it. The narrator did a great job as well. The child voice wasn’t my favorite but otherwise I enjoyed it very much. This is the story of Mable and Mac. Mac once rejected Mable when Mable bore her heart to Mac. 6 years later they are reunited. Mable doesn’t trust that Mac can be anything more than a charming flirt.

Fantastic narrator
Another great addition to this series. I liked getting to know some of the characters we only catch a glimpse of in the first book. However, this book is all about Mack. He. Is. Swoony. The story drove me crazy sometimes, but I so wanted the happily ever after. The narrator was perfection.

Swoony Hero and Strong Heroine!
This was a great book! Loved watching the relationship bloom between Mabel and Mac. The writing was excellent, and the narration was great. Definitely recommend! I also recommend reading (or listening to) the first in the series - The Jewel of Halstead Manor - because it sets this book up well! But it can definitely be read as a stand-alone. Another winner from Kasey Stockton!

Lovely Regency Romance!
The main characters, Mac and Mabel, are well matched in height and shared history.
The Lady of Larkspur Vale is a charming and clean, second chance Regency romance with childhood friends-to-unrequited love-to-reconciliation-to-true love.
I highly recommend this engaging and satisfying story. You'll enjoy the setting, the storyline, and the sweet ending.

Second chances
Mack and Mabel. They were childhood friends. But Mack broke Mabel’s heart. Years later they meet again- trust and friendship needed time to grow, in the meantime their hearts were softened and their love grew. Such a sweet and tender story. Fantastic characters. Wonderful narration.
Pippa was a favorite! (I hope she gets her own story someday).

beautiful story, wonderful narrator!!
The Lady of Larkspur Vale was such a beautiful story made even more wonderful by its narrator 😍
I loved so many things from this book. From characters to setting and pace, the author did a wonderful job weaving a story that certainly grips the reader and hardly ever lets go. I loved both Mabel and Mack, and my heart definitely went out to both of them due to their different circumstances and past. I loved that they had known each other through their childhoods yet, due to the last shared event, have a lot of things to work through. I loved the sense of family and community from Mabel's side of the story: her care for Gram (such a hoot) and her love for Pippa (never a dull moment with her) were evident throughout the story - needles to say about her interactions with her Father, as well as her conversations with her cousin Charles. On the other hand, Mack was the perfect hero and I definitely fell for him and his character (the perfect gentleman, caring, attentive, sweet, honorable...). I'm definitely glad the author gave us his POV. I could go on and on, but I'll just leave at this is Kasey Stockton's best series yet, and this story, despite being the second one, stands on its own (while featuring the wedding of the couple from the first book).
As for the narrator, I can't say enough good things about her performance! She took an already beautiful story and took it to the next level. Honestly, this is the first audiobook I've heard that played like a movie in my mind (and I'm talking P&P 2005 kind of movie - and that's high praise for me since that's one of my favorite movies ever). Seriously, I loved her work, and was totally blown away not only by her wide range of voices (from childlike voices like Pippa's to Gram's often crotchety one, to Mabel's sweet yet even-tempered, to Mack's swoony, deep baritone, to Charles' more light-hearted one, to Julia's always positive attitude and everything in between) but also by her accuracy while portraying different emotions: from enthusiasm to anger, to exclamations of joy and moments of wistfulness, I can't recommend her enough, and I think she very well might have spoilt me for other narrators.
Overall, a wonderful story brought to life by an equally wonderfully talented narrator, who quickly made this a favorite for me. Recommended to fans of the author, this series, and/or the Sweet Regency Romance genre. ~5 stars

Wonderful!
This book was fantastic and I had a very difficult time putting it down! I laughed out loud and thoroughly enjoyed the main characters. The narrator was fantastic and I was shocked at how many different voices she could do. I can't wait for the next book in this series! I will definitely be searching out more of Kasey Stockton's audiobooks!
