Publisher's Summary
As well as telling the story of Caroline and Philippa, this book continues the tale of Harriet, which began in The Eccentric’s Tale.
Now in her late 40s, Harriet is so staggeringly rich and powerful that she fears no one. Along with her sister, she settles down to enjoy her freedom and to live the eccentric life she has always desired, estranged from her disapproving family. An unexpected visit from a family member brings the neglected, timid Philippa into her life, and Harriet makes an impulsive decision which turns both her world and Philippa’s upside down.
Meanwhile, Caroline, who is enjoying a normal life as the eldest daughter of a wealthy duke, discovers by chance that she has an aunt who no one will talk about. At all. Thwarted in her attempts to discover more about her intriguing relative, Caroline takes a daring step to solve the mystery, unwittingly setting in motion a chain of events that will irrevocably change not only her life, but the lives of those around her.

Brilliant
Having read The Ladies’ Tale and all the other Jacobite Chronicles books and back stories I once again enjoyed meeting Julia Brannan’s characters being brought to life by Mary Jane Wells and the amazing Will M Watt. This production was as brilliant as all the others and I am sad that I have completed it. I love all Julia’s “Jacobite” characters and have read and listened to all the books more than once and am now waiting for Alex’s story to be available on Audible. Thank you all for bringing these characters to life once again.

Loved it all!
I usually don’t leave reviews unless I have extreme feelings for or against something and I have to say I really enjoyed this story and as important the narration. I have to say I’ve liked these Jacobite chronicle stories much better than the actual Jacobite chronicles. All of these made me tear up and laugh out loud. I’m sad that I am almost done with them.

Wonderful characters & narration!
It's so wonderful to get the stories behind the wonderful characters in The Jacobite Chronicles - all of those influential and life-altering contributors really are more vibrant now! Brilliantly performed in duet! These women who work within the confines of a system of oppression to find their own autonomy and happiness never cease to amaze me! The narration is once again outstanding!

HARRIET FOR WORLD LEADER!
Julia Brannan novels amaze me. Just when I think she can’t create stronger complex characters within a more interesting and realistic plot, she surprises me with a newer, even better one. The prequels are as wonderful and solid as the original series. And Harriet has to be one of my all-time favorite fictional characters. Thank you, Julia Brannan!

Really loved some more insight
I really enjoyed some more insight into these characters. I do think that the title is just a little bit misleading: the story is primarily that of Caroline and Edwin (which I don’t mind per say, it’s just not as much of Philippa’s tale as I was expecting). Harriet continues to be awesome and I did love seeing Caroline grow into the woman of the main series. Edwin is.. a bit different here than in the main story line and I find myself preferring the younger version of the man. Still, one does expect some changes across the stories. I also really enjoyed learning more about Hightower and even Daniel.
The narration continues to be excellent - really, both Wells and Watt continue to make the various characters’ voices clear and distinct. Truly excellent (though the recording is sometimes a bit off).
Overall, I really enjoyed the story, just as I have the others!
